2024 OFFISHALL Vancouver-Howe Sound-Sechelt Reports Thread

Has anyone been fishing plugs out at SH or t10 if yes how’s it been going. I get the weekend out there and did well plugging in the Silva bay derby last weekend.

Fished the evening bite last night. Started at T-10 for one pass. Got a smaller chinook we put back then nothing. Didn’t see any other action so moved south to Sandheads.

Less boat traffic than earlier in the week and less action, but still some solid fun. Fished in the pack and away from the pack. Found pockets of fish moving through, especially towards the high slack tide around 7:30.

Kept 3 fish, 2 reds and a marble. Put another few back and lost a few more. 55’ was most productive but we got fish higher and lower. Had to watch for shakers hitching a ride on the anchovy and ruining the presentation.

Gorgeous late summer night on the water. Watched the sun set then headed in on flat water.

I fished one for a couple of hours on Tuesday, it was between tides and quieter. A 4” tubby 232 and I ran it on bottom rod above a dummy flasher as it is not a very bright plug. Hooked a decent chinook on it which we lost due to reasons I won’t trouble you with.

Sand heads or T 10? What’s the consensus ?
If it was the same distance to travel I would pick Sandheads every time. But coming from false creek early morning we just want to get our gear in the water ASAP before the sun and the other boats arrive. So I haven’t got to sandheads in our 3 days so far. Later in the month when the fishing gets patchy we will go down there.

Strong wind warning today but seems we may duck it on our side for a bit longer. I'm going to spend a few hours off t10 mid day for slack flood, I like it there then aka I don't have the time to run all the way from stupid deep cove to the sandheads haha. Go get em!

It’s currently light winds and chop at T10.

Drop your lines at T10 and troll a straight tack to SH. You’ll be there in 2 hours and you’ll be following the NW blowing in. I’ll just sit here and pretend it’s me out there…

Fisheries on way out at 10 am. Really ? In that slop? 3.5 rollers. Rough and to check today ? Could be a **** show

Out yesterday at Sand heads for a few hours with a rookie managed to get two nice Chinooks. What was really working was large cop car spoons deeper down 85 to 100 ft. We lost several fish matter of fact one of them broke off my prized spoon just took a trip to Cabela's and picked up everything they had. Lots of weeds in the water yesterday was a real pain in the butt.

CCG just rescued two fisherman from the banks of the Capilano river. I didn’t want to take any pictures because they are already embarrassed enough, but one guy was wrapped in blankets so I suspect they were in the water for a while. The zodiac and one of their rescue boats attended. And it looks like they just dropped them off at Ambleside dock.

Happens almost every year. They go too far out into the steep on a low tide and then can’t walk back to the shore when the tide pushes in. I guess CCG is just there to prove Darwin wrong.

Yes, they obviously screwed up, but as you know at the tide change, the currents are incredibly strong in this area and they wouldn’t stand a chance.

Now the port Authority boat is escorting a cruise ship boat, one of the few times I’m afraid to say that everyone is inside of the entry restricted line like we should be.
