Vancouver Saltchuck?

gonna fish bell buoy and maybe further out closer to QA for afternoon/night fish tomorrow

thnx eastpoint lol i got confused for a bit there [:I]

good luck brisco

Fished West Van. from the Pink Apt. to the Cap Mouth yesterday from 4 - 8PM. Nothing but one hit. I was using bait from 36 - 66' in 60 - 100'. Didn't see much other action. The Bell has produced a few in the last couple of days, but it has yet to really turn on... Beware a nasty gear-grabber just NW of the mile marker. :(

"The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope."

Was out yesterday at the cap up to the pink apartment. One coho 4lbs and one sockeye that was released for the whole day. Didn't see much action for the rest of the boats.

I was out all day, fast current made for difficult fishing. a few boats cruised in amongst us as close as 25 feet away at about 20 Knots. One "the Windemear" came close enough to cause my downrigger cable to wrap around my kicker prop. Had to pull the prop and repair the cable on the water. I did manage to land a 12lb spring at about 6:30 near the "pink" at 50ft in 80ft of water on an anchovie.
I lost a couple of heavy fish earlier in the day trolling against the wind and the strong current, one due to slack in the line and the other when it hit my dr cable.

I was out first thing this morning at the Bell Boy, then we moved over to T-10. I didn't see a single net out and there were at least 20 boats. I wouldn't bother.

heading out the door right now... hoping the decent tide tonight will have some hungry springs lurkin

Sorry I didnt get back to you Brisco. It was a long day yesterday...the Striper may be a tad big for the Alouette launch...lol
Went to a retirement party last night so decided to just kick back today....doesn't look like we are missing much out there.

What kinda boat are you running Brisco?
I launch from Steveston...maybe try one night after work this week...if things start looking up.

You were the smart one today. I have a 2101 Striper and launch out of McDonald. Which by the way was a bit of gong show again. Why must people stage their boat in the ramp lane then decide to get set up ? I had a guy greasing his bearings for 15 minutes while blocking everyone else. I only stage once all my straps are off , bumpers down and lines tied, and the wife has had her pee.

I was out yesterday for a few hours. Tried off of the bell buoy. Nothing happening there for us or anybody around us. Got impatient there so ran over to the West Van waterfront for a while. No hits there either and saw no action from any of the couple dozen or so boats there. Wind calmed down a bit for the afternoon so thought I try around the T10 area. Was running out of time by this point. No action there for us as well. Very quiet day for us. Turned out to be a beautiful day on the water. And yeah, MacDonald beach boat ramp was a gong show. Never seen it that busy there in the past nine years.

Cap was good today with lots of fish ... Pinks, Coho and we also managed a 33 pound Spring at the mouth.

Thats really odd. I heard on the radio that there were no fish at the Cap. As a matter of fact the boats came to T-10 looking for fish. I guess you guys have the magic touch. :)

no luck for us either for the evening/night fish...

started at bell buoy moved out toward t10 nothing then back to bell and freighters but then it got dark in a hurry

wow that black smoke form the fires really made it get dark in a hurry

only one hit shoulda tried the cap? i guess next time lol

I went out with a buddy tonight from 7 til 9:30pm. Trolled in front of the "pink apt". Lost one near the boat, line snapped on the second one, (knew I should have re-tied that rig), spooled the reel on the 3rd one and then landed a 12lb spring at dark!
Took a few sunset pics with my phone. Big red sun in the smoke to the west and a big full moon to the east....awesome. :D

A buddy of mine took a 45lb spring from in front of the Cap about 10 years ago or so. They were in a 12 foot aluminum as well.

33 lb spring must be near record for the cap.

Nope. Not even close as many 30-40 lbers some years. Also several over 40 in last few years ( no reached 40 last year (that I know of) as they were smaller last year) The odd one over 50 in last several years. I remember a 54 and that was a fellow I know and that was about 4 years ago. One lost that a local guide had up beside his boat estimated well over 60 lbs ( "possibly pushing 70") a few years ago. Also one out farther in harbour several years ago went 62 by another local guide.

I wonder if those fish make it up the cap? I know some years the water just trickles down the rocks, hows the river this year?
