2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

14ish to the boat. 1 decent keeper and released a couple legal smaller ones. White hoochie, blah, blah, blah. Can’t wait to bonk some meat. DFO was out, spent some time with a Carolina Classic. 🤷🏼‍♂️

We ran across and fished Thrasher on Sunday afternoon- hit it at about 3 pm until 645- two hatch in the box and released a few-after some dowrigger issues I went to the old slip weight that I dug out of the bowels of the box and it was actually great lol-
it seemed to tail off pretty good - not near as bust as 2 weeks prior- I am guessing it was a little slower as reports are a little soft-

I think we have been spoiled over the last two years with the coho run. Especially the amount of hatchery Coho, seems to be significantly less this year so far. I am hopeful it will pick up though.

First time ever fishing South Bowen on Saturday - came home with 3 hatchery fish. 38', white & green splatterback hoochie. Worked the contours, slowly moving out. Seemed to have most luck in 350-400 FOW. The fish would just hit the line out of seemingly nowhere (no bait on the sounder...). Is this normal for this area? Or does the bait start to congregate later summer?

The lack of bait or arches on the screen was similar for me.

Has anyone tried fly fish off of a boat to catch coho around Bowen or Gibson? Just wondering if I can use a fast sink like type 7 to reach those burgers.

I haven't done it, but I know people who have. You probably only need an intermediate sink if the fish are slashing the surface, which is pretty common. Same approach as if you were casting from shore.

Lots of fish have been caught on the south side by bucktailing. More active when there’s jumpers though.

It's not a fly....far from it....but try dragging a Mag Lip. They dive but also float, so they are easy to deploy. Float them back lock your reel and you are fishing 15' or more.
