2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

On another salmon page, there’s a report that Sand heads was producing some hatchery coho and many Chinook in the 20 pound range. Also a DFO boarding occurrence with the person who made the report.
😂

Out at SE Bowen (Cowan Pt to Apodaca Cove) on Sunday afternoon around 15:00hrs. 2 hatchery coho in less than 30 minutes.

Took sister out on Monday afternoon at SE Bowen and caught only weeds (lots!!) and 1 wild coho. Several other boats but no action.

Out this morning at sunrise near Whirlcombe until 08:15hr. Release 5 wilds. A few lost fish. No keepers

I guess the take-away is that on this side of the straight the coho aren't thick yet

This time of year when the weather finally arrives also brings you wind, waves, and weeds.

Yeah I’ve probably fished Bowen once in June/July the past few seasons. I’m on team “cross the pond.” Much more consistent and you can grab a ling too. Easier when you can bury the fuel cost in business expenses too lol.

Tried for an afternoon fish around Bowen yesterday 2-5pm . Couple chunky wilds was all we could seem to drum up . Was smoking hot out so we didn’t last too long out there .

Got some blood on the boat today. We made the trek across to thrasher but had a late start. Probably dropped in around 10:30 AM or so and nailed a decent hatchery right away. Ran the lines at 30 feet. Speed was maybe 4MPH. The bite seemed to be where it shallows up really quickly to about 65 feet. Right on that ledge seems to be nice big pockets of bait. Had to work a little more for the next hatch coho which came at probably 11:30 AM or so. It seemed the closer we were to the beacon, the better the bite. I assume it would’ve been better if we got there a little bit earlier. The conditions were very crossable today with the Bowen buoy reporting waves of about 1.4 feet. Seemed to be lots of boats around Worlcombe Island. Didn’t stop in there, but it seems like that might be a bit of a hotspot for those not wishing to cross, judging by how many boats were out. I think it’s a little bit of a calm spot when those northwest winds are blowing as well.

Also the white hootchie was definitely outperforming, but then I put on a golden nugget on the other side and that one was getting some good bites as well.

Worlcombe is definitely not a calm spot when the NW winds come in. It's also about the same distance as hitting Thrasher from the Bell. It's just a good spot to fish when the bait is holding there. I bet there are spots that are just as good all over the place right now though. This is just the sheep following the flock. They'll all move to Cowen once Facebook tells them to.

Thank you for correcting that @Rain City

I totally agree about the herd mentality.
Last few times out I haven’t had a boat within 300 meters of where I’ve been getting them

Out yesterday, lines in 12ish at cowan working the 300' contour towards roger curtis. Had some coho at cowan off the hop and found some hatch in the mix but too many small springs so did the long NW tack. Slow until we got close to roger curtis then got into a pocket of all hatch. Went out into "raincity trench" looking for the last one before home time but ran into a couple of nice springs instead that were sent back strong. Lovely day! gear at 37, 47, 57 most of the hits on 47 and 57. Splatterback hootchies and razz tazz skirts
