point in water at 49°17.519' N and 123°20.404' W
easterly to a point in water located on the boundary
between Subareas 28-7 and 29-3 at 49°17.400' N and
123°15.867' W, then southerly following the Subarea
boundary to a point on land near Point Grey at
49°15.995' N and 123°15.860' W, then southerly
following the shoreline to Point Grey at 49°15.936' N and
123°15.860' W, then southwesterly to the north side of
North Arm Jetty Light at 49°15.443' N and 123°16.772'
W, then southerly to the south side of North Arm Jetty
Light at 49°15.437' N and 123°16.779' W, then
southwesterly to a point in water located on the
boundary between Subareas 29-3 and 29-10 at
49°13.258' N and 123° 17.117' W, then westerly to a
point in water at 49°13.349' N and 123°20.797' W, and

After living vicariously through SFBC members reports for the last few years I finally got things sorted out and made the run to Sandheads from Ladysmith this morning. I’ll probably never see better water for the return trip via Porlier Pass!

My BiL and I boxed four white springs with the biggest coming in just over 90 cm and pulling the scale to 21 lbs. We also retained a few of the better pinks for the smoker.

6” anchovies and herring out-fished the white oil-slick hoochie taking three of the four springs and the three biggest. We did a few loops at about 100 fow on the inside then about 200 fow on the outside. 70’ was the mark inside and 130’ outside. Three of the four were caught outside.

In the Nanaimo Reports thread there was a derail conversation about 9’ rods and I mentioned I’d report on the Ugly Stik Carbon Salmon/Steelhead I picked up at Gone Fishing Nanaimo yesterday. Well it brought in the 3 biggest of the 4 springs today and handled the task well. I’m a fan and so is my BiL who said it felt fine like using a surgical instrument lol. The handle above the reel seems small but after battling a few nice springs it gained my confidence.

Two good hits that didn’t stick a few pinks and that’s all she wrote for the afternoon.

SH 2 PM till sunset. One good nook big 79 cm(white), released one coho. Again filled with pinks just using landing net. Crazy pinks were hopping in to the net.
On a bad side - lost my herring so tomorrow will be fishing spoons and hoochies.
