Vancouver Saltchuck?

Hey peahead...I think you fished with my bud in Bamfield...he is part of the lawless crew...big huge man named Dan as well (the guy who was sleepin on top of the boat) ...he told me you guy's slayed them.

Still slaying them here...way too funny

And I'll call myself GOTNOFISH2. lol I got a feeling in the next couple of weeks we will be hearing some healthy reports from F.M. And hopefully all of us will be out there with him.

Anybody on this thread got any ideas on good places to go like Thrasher or Porlier or ... I'm willing to make a run somewhere for some good action but have never fished the other side. Pretty dead here it sounds like, how about the other side generally nearby.

Just wondering if anyone here leaves their boat in the water at False Creek marina under the Burrard Bridge? I'm considering doing it next year and am just curious how safe it is leaving equipment on board?

We had a boat at a marina in Ladner and it was fenced, locked and a caretaker lived right there. The boat next to me had a 250 h.p. Merc taken off the transom in the water! You just never know.

Pinks were very thick off Sandheads around the red and green cans tonight 6-7pm. Hits every couple minutes. One of those laugh a minute nights. I just ran a weight, flasher, and hootchie back 35 feet. Put the second rod away after 10 minutes. Some guys were even drifting and jigging. The water was beauty calm.

It was stupid with pinks from noon on...the whales were just chowing down on pinks 10 feet from the boat and we aere still nailing them...got our limit in an hour (fire up the canner honey!)It was a hoot doing boat side releases...constant double headers. Went down to T-10 another pink on a red head anchovie...lost another big spring then the whales came through and it went dead. Very nice day.

Went out to Sand Heads, not too bad for pinks. Not on fire but enough action. Got four this morning. Good for the smoker. Anything else happening? I'm happy with pinks for now so won't go to thrasher yet, but I will get my fill of pinks pretty soon.

Went out at noon today, worked the bell and QA and only a couple of shakers. Decided to run over to the cap. Went into the bay and anchored for a while. Pulled out the bait casters and threw on one of my home made brass spoons. Slam---- 9 lbs coho and finished it off with a couple of crabs. Still not the best it should be, though at least i finally got some blood in the boat again.

My wife and I stopped off at Sandheads at 4:30pm on the way back from the Gulf Islands ... we planned to fish for an hour to see if we could catch dinner and by 5:15pm we had our limit of 8 pinks and had a number of others pop off. Unbelievable ... the water was absolutely thick with fish and they were jumping everywhere. While it wouldn't have mattered what we used, pink squirts in the top 30 feet worked fine. Not the dinner spring we were looking for but it is all in the brine and will do a good job of filling the smoker.

I started out late but had a great day on the water. I trolled from the bell to the QA, then to the T10....nothing. Went down to sandheads and played with numerous pinks for a couple of hours, that was fun. Went back to Vancouver harbour and trolled right down the middle. Landed a 16lb spring at 7pm. :D
I think one of the best things is frying up the shavings after I fillet the fish. It made for a great sandwich for supper.

I was at Sandheads Sunday morning and nothing was happening for anyone. I guess they are either there or they are not.

Coriba,
Re: Sandhead for Pinks on Sunday</u>....There were a few around Sunday morning, when you found schools...one guy landed a decent Chinook beside me. I was there mid morn to afternoon and got a soc right away and hit a few pockets of Pinks out deeper BUT .....
as afternoon flood pushed the Pinks into the shallow water off the red can it went NUTS - we hooked approx 35-40 pinks, lost tons, kept limit of 16 and released a few . THE FLOOD is what you want there. The pinks were thick in there with schools of rollers on the surface and the sounder was going black. It just got thicker as the flood pushed in. Some Casters doing ok too, as long as you could cast into a rolling schol on the surface. THE two KIDS I had with me had a BLAST!

That is good to know. I just left too early. Never found the school. I'll go out again next weekend. We want to bring some friends out and would rather show them some action. Thanks for the hint.

Actually we were there for most of the flood. I think you just have to find the schools and we didn't find it.

The schools of pinks were everywhere at sandheads yesterday. I was there from 4:30 to 6:00pm. There had to have been at least 60 boats out there and I tried to stay away from the crowd out in deeper water. I was in 200 to 300 feet of water fishing at 50 feet. It was so hot that I left one line at the surface til I hooked a pink, then let the second line down while I pulled in the hooked fish, trying to avoid double headers.
The same fisheries officers that checked me last Sunday came out to check me again. This time they didn't check anything because they remembered me from last week. They did tell me that they gave out lots of tickets for people keeping sockeye. [^]

Sorry Getbent , I missed this post just catching it now...I met Dan and the crew there at Mills at the crab feast on Sat night but first time I met them. We fished offshore near where they were fishing at one point on Saturday and thats where I grabbed the photos. Great bunch of guys ....lots of fun. Met your buddy ( the big Dan )again on the Ferry back to Vancouver on Sunday.
I am still wondering why the big guy always was the one cleaning fish .... he must have lost a bet or something...lol ?

Nah...he is just all over it is all.
Loves to do the dirty work...gotta love having a guy like that around lol

I was out for a run around the Stanley Park seawall this morning, jumpers everywhere from the Lions Gate bridge to Lumbermans Arch, they were right at the kelp line. Does anyone know if these are coho or pinks? Is this area open? I didn't think it was but saw a guy in a boat fishing them.
