Vancouver Saltchuck?

Sorry for the 'hijack' but I think you'll find this important:

DC Reid, a major sportsfisherman on this coast, wrote this article about fish farms hurting the sockeye run.
http://www.timescolonist.com/Fraser...+chance+because+fish+farms/1971312/story.html

"Department of Fisheries and Oceans minister, Gail Shea, was in Norway at the major aquaculture get-together wooing them to come to Canada."

He urges us to write Shea.G@parl.gc.ca to tell her we want to keep fishfarms out of BC. If she gets enough stinkin emails about this, it'll help.

Thanks.

Tough luck salmon smoker. Equipment failure sucks when it costs you your catch.

You seem good at posting photos and I'm sure its not hard to do but I just can't get it. Another member sent a very lengthy process to post photos but there has to be a less complicated way to do it. Could you tell me in how you post your photos. I really want to share my phots with the membership. I have not received a reply from 2 requests to this website and am anxious to learn.

Thanks in advance.

Hey ocean ranger,

go to the search button up by the log out button and search for posting photos...it details it easily, get your kids to help if you have too, do the photo bucket thing...once you have the hang of it...no worries.

Looks like you're almost there. The trick is to move the curser between the (IMG)_*_(IMG), then left click, right click and paste your code.
pm me if you have trouble, I didn"t see an e-mail address for you or I would have sent you a pm.

If you hit PREVIEW before you post, you'll see if you have it.

OceanRanger,

Go to www.photobucket.com and open a free account. Upload your pictures. You'll see 4 links to the left hand side of the photo. Click and copy the "IMG Code" link. Paste it into your post, and your golden. Like Salmon Smoker said, use the preview function to see if it works before posting.

Good luck. Let's see those pics!

Oh well I'm a little slow but I think I have it now.

My fishing season might be over because I am a fairweather fisherman and my chances to get out may get scarce. Anyway I am sure glad I found this site and I enjoy reading all your posts and especially love to see all the pics.

Thought I would put up a pic of my two boys and another nice pic of the sight we all love - our gear at work and our playground in the background. I hope you all like them.

OceanRanger:)

Well I have finally acquired the ability to post pics but I need some fine tuning.

My pics are being posted way too big. When I tried to edit them I ended up deleting some. So I found out that if you delete the pics from the photo-bucket album they are also deleted from this site.

I am hopeless on this computer.

Anyway I am re-posting the pic that is still missing.

I just saw a live news clip from the harbour and it is a beauty day on the water. I hope you all made it out today.

Salmon Smoker, I was fishing the coal ports a couple years back and my buddy was netting a #20 ish spring for me and the fish was in the bag until he lifted the net up straight out in front of him and it snapped at the point where the loop and handles meet. Then hee turned to me and dropped his jaw kinda like Haah as the fish flipped off the hook and back in to the bluewater. My new net is built a lot better!!! That is a nice looking catch a release style net you had.Cap mouth eh?

It is a beautiful net and I have repaired it. The nice thing is that I've dropped it overboard several times and it floats. The problem is that the mesh is not deep enough to trap the fish if you were to lift it properly, handle up.
It was a great day at the cap today even with all the boat traffic. I lost the only decent hit that I got though.
I'll probably have to go out again tomorrow. [8D]

Oceanranger, nice pics. You can resize them right in photobucket, they have that option.

Hit the the Sandheads yesterday about 1 PM. Hooked a fish right away that I think was a Chinook and lost it at 45 feet on a choive. Got the lines back down and hooked a 7 pound hatchery Coho which we landed at 45 feet. Got one Pink about 4 PM at 15 feet on a small Pink flasher/hoochie combo. Had 4 shakers and one other hit. Several boats out there and did not see very many nets out and very few Pinks jumping as well, even on the high tide. Was hoping to get my rookie friend into a few on the light spin gear casting.

Decided to go try Ambelside at 5:30 PM and see if we could hear any of the concert. Hit either a Coho or a Pink right away at 15 feet which my rookie friend lost. That was it for the rest of the day.

Calm seas and lots of sunshine made for a great day!

Overall a slow weekend for me...fished both days. A few jacks, some shakers...but we did find a 41 on Saturday..they guys were pretty excited. The big buck was a whitey and darkening up.

Nice work on the 41 :D I fished the lightship today 2 jacks and some shakers, 1 big hit that didn't stick and a monster that hit like a seal almost spooled us and broke off at the mainline to flasher.Lost todays lucky spoon and my favorite flasher too that monster.Guess I should run 40lb main and 30 lb leader instead of the other way around. Where were you fishing saturday?

You found it! I've been looking for that 41 all season. :D

I didn't have that kind of luck this weekend but I sure enjoyed the weekend near the cap, boat traffic was crazy. I actually switched my leaders to single barbless cause I was getting quite a few around 22". They were fun and put up quite a fight but easier to release with a single barbless.
Seems that the best bite at the cap is just before dark, although today was pretty good around 3pm.

FM any pics?

Waiting for pics to be forwarded to me still [}:)]. I'll post those up when I get them. I have another larger one (much larger than 41---taken in the same general area in mid August) that I'd like to post as well..still haven't had those forwarded either! [}:)]

There are some big big fish around right now. A buddy, MB, found 3 large springs today..however couldn't put any in the box. There are definitely a few nice nice fish around..the problem is that there are "just a few". We're still waiting for the bulk of the White Springs to show up off the Fraser and West Van. Any day now..any day.
