Commander 26 Re Build

I think the trim you bought may be too big for your boat and could be very hard to install. But please prove me wrong. The effort your putting into this is amazing and hopefully rewarding.
It just fits with a 1/4 to spare to the lines of the hull. I’m really curious to see how it bends, thinking of maybe using an adhesive to mount the trim perfectly first, then have the stainless follow. Also that rubber compound inside the stainless rail should prevent any kinking and the stainless should form with it.

And thanks for the nice words of encouragement but forgive me I need to laugh a bit, not at you.
This effort you speak of is perspective. I’m just getting ready to get back at it.
If you want something you have to work for it, whatever it is, I wouldn’t have anything without effort. The trick is to make it seem effortless, it becomes normal, then you put effort into a bunch of things effortlessly and watch stuff come together…

Or I can crack a beer at 3pm and call it a day….
Start fighting with the wife, kick the dog, end up with a camper and 18 foot CC

Ya,it's called work ethic's, very rare to find these day's. The country/world would be a lot better off if everyone had your drive to achieve a goal.I'll continue to watch your progress, the end result will be amazing.

Here’s a few pics.
The sides are now wet sanded 1200. Didn’t polish as we need to spray another pass where the rear cabin wall meets the side of the hull on the port side and a couple low spots. Lots of hand sanding 220 all the curves. Inside is at 1000. There are trims going on everywhere and a bit of the gel coated wall will be covered by cabinets so I’m not too worried about the finish in those spots. 5B10D87B-CAFA-43A8-B49E-933574BD2B4B.jpeg7BD7EEA9-DAF5-4FB8-89BA-718C7763AEE2.jpegC32AB2C1-037C-4B0D-B5FF-33FA34E5C95F.jpegD071F731-E477-4D0F-BDCC-148D15CAD4C2.jpegCCE7B5D0-76AA-4D65-BC41-D108BD2641F7.jpeg726C5668-49B9-4B7E-A89A-EF328C022277.jpeg9EC3A3DA-3F14-4D51-BD9D-98CC7A438197.jpegF7122091-5ADF-433D-9D7C-00C398386F19.jpegF5B25025-46F1-4ABF-A990-EEA947EF42DA.jpeg

More of 220 sanding the deck by hand and finishing up some of the Interior with a cut and polish. I got a few pics but it’s just doesn’t tell all.
The look, the feel, the smell, I can’t put into pics
Once I put my twins on I can arouse all my senses at once :)
Nice to see some more pieces closer to the final step.53708222-8ACE-4033-A243-F0D8BE9F3A5C.jpegE8AC3E8F-1D43-4516-B26D-497886862288.jpeg

Work is getting in my way big time this week but was able to play around after hours with some of my toys and make life a lot easier finishing the bottom of the hull. Here’s a look at the bottom, looks like a few repairs have been done throughout her first 40 years.

I pay a big price for having access to a few toys,
The biggest is my freedom, 4 late night service calls in the last 3 evenings repairing broken shot on the side of the road, not for a buck but to keep customers happy, taking time away from my commander . The shop owes me :)

Lol dam salary gotta find perks some where

She is cleaned up now finally, but like Ray said that’s the first step. Next we will make a pass and flatten her out a bit.
The hull has taken a lot, first we sandblasted the bottom paint off and along with it all the weak gel coat, exposing a million pinholes and some delam. Blasted the delam with a wetsandblaster to see how much damage I can do, thank goodness the hull kept together:) Then we took 40 grit and removed the gel coat.
I’m thinking to make a quick pass with the sandblaster now that the gel coat is removed. That should remove any weak glass. There are well over a dozen areas to be repaired, going to make a game plan and take a break from the hull, focus on the rubrail as that’s the only thing holding me back from continuing on the interior.
Had to clean up the rub rail, the packaging wasn’t great, cut a piece to see how it would sit.
Funny, the port side , stern and half of starboard fit perfect but the other half has a few feet of high spots. It’s not too much but enough to make my eye twitch. Will have to do something with this few feet before I can install the rub rail.46CBF603-61AF-44FC-A289-96805682F38A.jpegA44DCA6A-0369-4B59-B4DD-29CF050C4065.jpeg66CCFAF5-0C87-4761-8BD7-68C63E62974F.jpegF1717AF5-EA1B-43EE-ACDE-D45E94C83089.jpeg6977A4DE-D5F2-4494-8124-57FC97521CB8.jpeg78F9D19D-1E25-4B85-98C3-F3EB9226A1F7.jpeg4AD95DA8-5C91-4418-94F7-6F6B25848188.jpeg

Flybridge is back out, getting cleaned up and a first pass with 40grit after some previous repairs.Got the sides and a few other spots sprayed with gel coat again, sanded and starting to cut and polish. Would love to spray the flybridge get it out the way ( up out the way )
The rubrail….. the rubrail…… zzzzzzzzzzzz
Slowly coming along, but not as I planned…
The insert just doesn’t want to make sharp turns, it’s made for more of a radial application. I have a bunch of joints and end caps but nothing to make it fit nice, will have to explore a few more options for the corners. After measuring twice without being generous, I do have 14 feet of rubrail to experiment with, here’s a couple pics. 0D49A1C5-1C04-49D4-845F-9CEF9A4E5524.jpegEE857676-EB34-49E4-9A9D-D05684C04B19.jpeg

More progress today, here’s a few pics. Got the sides polished up, Ron needs a few more minutes to finish up. Looking awesome and more importantly another piece is completed. Going to get her up on wheel lifts and start repairing the bottom. Got the top done with 40 grit, still a few places to get by hand. 68CD2FE5-F4D8-4E19-96CA-C22BEC8F1E77.jpeg92364018-5FB2-413C-9BEA-9EA24A62B320.jpeg40D662A4-52C7-42BD-87EC-E3EB8E47BA09.jpeg558ADEE1-6BC4-4E77-8E4B-8D49EDB02B78.jpegEDCFDBA1-F38D-406D-8D8D-B6E0A8782DE3.jpeg476FFE56-CED4-403A-84E5-4DCAC97EEB11.jpeg83188555-5546-4BDF-BAE6-EEDBDC09F829.jpeg97095946-24EA-4715-BD0D-E36A29BB77FD.jpeg
