Exactly what I had in mind for fishing this afternoon, too. Trying to decide between Cap, T10/SH, or sticking to Cowen.

It's been blowing NW 15-20 for the last 24hrs at least. That's probably too choppy for most boats to fish Sandheads or T-10, but the forecast is calling for the winds to east to light this afternoon.

Nice late run of hatchery coho. Mixes in well with the white chinook.

Looked at the weather coming at us… Had to get out this afternoon. Lines down at sandheads a bit before three. Worked it hard in my regular areas.… Not a lot of love. A handful of big wild coho and a couple of small springs. Running three different bait rigs, stacking on one side… Working hard.
Not a lot being caught around us but I did see two or three good springs getting boated. All on short leaders… Had to be hootchies! It’s getting close to sunset now, so time to change it up. Threw it down to 87 and within five minutes we have a nice big chunky spring on the line. One of those 17 pounders that looked to be in the 20s… Short and fat. Put it back down, another one in the boat. Two more long line releases in the next 20 minutes…
Then we start to get some texts from the spouses…time to go!

Motor out to Sandheads 9:00 am, rough as hell, whitecaps, 3 ft rollers. Decided to tough it out because winds suppose to die down. Started hitting a few jacks right away. Then we started hitting springs, landed four, biggest 18 lbs. Then it was pretty much all cohos for the rest of the afternoon, 6 hatch in the box, 7 wild released. Everything in the morning on bait till we ran out, then white hootchies in the afternoon.

I don't put a lot of faith in the granular details on Windy. They are taking the same weather data that Environment Canada has and putting some lipstick on it. Better for general trends such as when the wind is going to change than for finding small areas out of the wind.
Current blowing 15 MPH at Sandheads and EC is calling for that to increase this afternoon and hold until midday tomorrow.

I find some of the granular wind forecasts on Windy helpful. They're pretty accurate in my experience at predicting wind shifts down to the hour, and building or declining winds. I just find that I need to add a bit of interpretation to the hourly forecasts.
The main interpretations are that their wind estimates at first light and last light tend to be too strong (it's flatter than they call for), and the midday forecasts tend to be not strong enough (it's rougher than they call for).
And I'm planning to head out tomorrow morning at first light to Sandheads. The E wind should be fishable and dropping through the morning. Tide won't amplify the wind. Should be good to go. Then we'll get out there and see.

Was at SH yesterday, very rough initially. Toughed it out, 3 of us got 4 springs when it calmed down somewhat. Later we were into the coho, many of which were hatchery. Released 6 wild, a few jacks. Won't do that heavy NW wind again.

Use PredictWind it is more accurate in general. Tomorrow the gov't forecast is the same as PredictWInd app... should be a nice window between noonish and the evening before the NW comes in.
I'm banking on that anyways, I'll be out there

I find if you look at enviro can forecast, what that forecast looks like on windy (or others im sure), and then look at “current” enviro and windy forecast with actual wave height/wind speed and tides…you can get a good idea of how that will play into actual conditions within 24-36 hours
Then you need to remember how that felt and go look at the 24hrs conditions options on enviro!

Might have been us. Managed 2 big springs and lost one good one at the boat. All on pearl glow hootchies with the rigger at 120 in 320 FOW yesterday. Also finished with a really nice 10lb hatchery coho on a green hootchie.
