2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

Not trying to jinx myself but I haven’t been sealed at SH this year - just not yet. Have others noticed a lower seal activity too? Or maybe the transients have been doing a better job in the summer?

The seal pop seems to be down back 2017 there would be 5-10 in the north arm coming out now there’s maybe 1. During pinks in 2019 at SH there was tonnes.

Sure seems like there is alot less.

Also harbour porpoises, haven’t seen any, and we seen them all the time with there black fin coming out.

Have the killer whales cleaned them out?

Have you tried these yet? They roll pretty tight and I had a fair amount of success with them out at Swiftsure. Way cheaper than bait when you can use them over and over.
I got one of those, mines silver. Haven't used it yet. What do you think is the best color?

Is it just me or is a ratio of 1 Spring brought on board for every 3 I hook up with the norm at SH? I’m losing more than I’m catching for sure. And it’s not poor rod management. Now…… I’m no longer using trailing hooks and use mostly single hooks on spoons. I lost 2 spectacular fish today in 300 fow that almost spooled me.
bend your hook to offset the tip and the shank, bend the tip in slightly also. use bigger hooks for bigger fish so it can get right around the jaw bone.

They've moved further into English Bay and actually been seen in False Creek-swimmers like me saw them regularly off area beaches.

So maybe they're responding to all the Orca activity in their own way-there's bait all over so they don't have to worry about food so much.

Sorry to interupt with a fishing report.I finally got a chance to fish this week and the winds looked a bit challenging for SH, so I went with a buddy in his boat and fished the Cap. Arrived at 8am and got into a teen football spring. Hooked another 10 minutes later, but that one flipped off at the boat. Got 2 more undersized clipped springs. All on cop car spoon. Tried meat and glow white hootchie and nothing

Any Sand Head reports from yesterday or today would be much appreciated, trying to decide whether to take advantage of a calm wind window this afternoon.

Exactly what I had in mind for fishing this afternoon, too. Trying to decide between Cap, T10/SH, or sticking to Cowen.

It's been blowing NW 15-20 for the last 24hrs at least. That's probably too choppy for most boats to fish Sandheads or T-10, but the forecast is calling for the winds to east to light this afternoon.

According to Windfinder winds at SH were 18 mph at 0900. Now at 1000 its showing 9 mph. Report calls for light this afternoon. But wado I know. Could be blowing 30 knots in the next 5 minutes at SH.
