2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

Fished sandheads today from 11 till 3. Got a chinook right by the green can on an anchovy at 75 ft down for like 1 min and then fish on. Couldn’t even get the second down. Fisheries came over and gave us a quick check, all good.

Found another couple springs but then just endless pinks. We further north and saw Chinook feeding on bait down at 120 ft. Dropped down and immediately hooked up. Green glow flasher and glow teaser head. Messed a few hits that didn’t stick but ended up with 4 nice chinook in total. 3 reds and one white. Flat calm, amazing day.

Parlayed last nights big boy into 5 beauty hardshell outer HoweSound crab gave 3 away (guest had license). Amazing what lots of fresh bait will do,11/2 hour soak. Was so calm on run back I couldnt resist hitting Sandheads again. 120 on rigger pink &white hoochie. Also picked up some sweet bycatch loaded with hooks...

Sounds like it was a good day :D

If you were wondering about the accuracy of the estimated numbers of salmon for each species that we hear in the news, here are some of the ways they do it now.

Great last min outing 2 - 6:30 t-10 ish…. Had a rare win vs a 1 eyed stubborn seal - mangled on either end but edible - a few others in the box. Outside the crowd in 250 fow 75/85 on the wire. Spoon and a hooch were the ticket…. Forgot the bait. Pinks everywhere… and a beauty wild ho sent back after a quick pic. Beautiful sunset on the run back to Rocky Point.

What a difference a day makes. Decided last minute to try for an evening bite. Got out around 4:30 and headed straight to the green can hoping for some chunkers. Dropped our usual gear and the pink show was on. Tried deeper, more pinks. Tried different gear further out, more pinks. Finally hooked into one nice white in 300 FOW on a Pesca spoon at 100'. So we switched to spoons and boy oh boy then the baby show started. Shaker after shaker, little jacks all over the place. I burnt out quick and ended up dropping a clip overboard while trying to adjust it's position. Then we snapped off a snubber, 18lb ball and clip on seamingly nothing. Just wasn't our night. Got a little too cocky I guess, the gods had to knock me back down a little. Still an amazing night on the water though, especially the nap I took while Marco cleaned up. I'm hoping for some redemption soon.

Are people getting many red Springs? What’s the best way to tell a “Red” from a “White” Spring before you bring the fish aboard?

Finally got the work sorted and family tended to so I could get after my true love: fishing.

Made a silly stop at T-10 for 45 minutes before getting to Sandheads at 11:45. Fished the contours tack toward the green can. Got too hairy for fishing solo so headed deeper. Pinks galore and a few small chinooks.

Headed out deeper past 250’. Dropped the riggers deeper too. At 95’, still pinks. At 115’, still stinky. At 125’ and deeper, chinooks on.

Bonked my two by 1:45 before I remembered to eat lunch. Collars for dinner tonight.
