2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

I was out last Sunday with my wife, and dropped prawn traps near Bowen. We then went along Bowen to look at some properties. Came back a few hours later to no float. Looks like the traps were stolen. Additionally, a buddy who was out fishing that day had his crab traps stolen as well, south of the North Arm mouth. I spoke to another guy at the ramp who had his traps stolen that day too. I usually watch my traps while soaking and have come upon people looking over my float but nothing else. Beware out there, folks!!

Last weekend the tidal currents were very strong. I’ve had mine drift in much less current. ( if I wasn’t fishing nearby and watched them drift to where I picked them up I’d have thought they were stollen too )

Were your traps along south Bowen? The tugs pull barges through there quite close to shore where I often see bouys marking traps. If the barges go over them, your traps are gone.

Thanks for the responses. I realise where the tugs haul barges along Bowen and the trap line wasn't in that area. There were other traps in the same general area as mine as well, that were also gone when I returned. Although, of course I don't know if they were picked up by their owner(s) or otherwise. If the tides took my weighted traps, I couldn't find them anywhere nearby. Additionally, I would've hoped anyone finding them would notice my name and phone number on the scotchman and call me. I haven't received any calls.

Sometimes people take offense to other traps being dropped "on top" of theirs. Not that it's right of them to do anything about it, but we know how people can be unfortunately.
