2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

Crossed over to the other side today taking a couple newbies out with us. This was the first time I’ve ever fished with a plug and it way out performed anything else. Picked up a WCFT 6” mother of pearl at Poco Marine the other day to try it out. Not sure what I was doing but tied the main line directly to the bar above a false knot and then put it back 50’ before attaching to the clip. No dummies. The biggest was just over 20lbs. And 247 prawns after a two hour soak made it a great day. We had to tell our friends this was not normal. About a dozen other boats who also seemed to have nets out and leaving early. I think the bigger fish are showing up now.
That’s it… I’m buying a bigger boat!!!

Spent a couple hours in the harbour this afternoon. Released a couple unders, but that was it. All the bait that was around last week seemed to have moved off. Saw a nice kingfisher high and dry in the North arm on the way out. It looked to be almost floating when I was heading back in. Wonder if it was mechanical issues, or operator error.

Ran to thrasher this am- got there bout 9- 1 75 cm -4 unders and missed one- was not bonkers but fish around- did not seem too busy around us- 8 big dungeez on way back- wish I had more time on other side today!
Hoochie’s were doin it- 175 ft
Did the fish run into your prop or were you practicing your sushi skills a little early? What a glorious day outside today.

bust for us today ran from Gibsons to thrasher had a few hits one long line release an undersize and that was it... only got there at the midday tide and had to pull the pin at 2.30 .. there was one crew working it seamed to be busy/ Noisy but did not see anything really big getting caught

Quiet day yesterday, started at the bell and had 1 bite that didnt stick. Found no bait to speak of and saw no nets, so picked up and went to Tunstall. Immediate hook up, nice red doe in the box, skinny G 110 rigger 105 fow, but it was the only bite. Again saw not much bait or nets, so tried Hut. No bait, no bite, timed out. We felt pretty lucky for the one fish, and had zero technical issues , so pretty good day.

I ll bite. Years ago buddy put his rubber style drain plug in the wrong hole (insert joke here). We were still at hull speed when we noticed we were taking on water fast. Had no choice but to beach. Poor engineering, slight distraction, so a combo to blame.

Does anybody have any experience with the Garmin autopilot? I'm slated to get one installed next month and would like to know if anyone has used or seen in action before. Not having a rear helm, I am finding that I am running back and forth to the forward helm to straighten out the boat when we are slow trolling, especially when I'm fishing alone (which I do a lot). Apparently the autopilot has a function which allows me to maintain and adjust heading with a handheld remote. Seems like the perfect solution for keeping on course and not rushing up to the wheel every time the wind blows. Just haven't seen one in action.
Probably want to start another thread.
