Left milltown this morning at 1030 and headed to the mile markers. Followed the 120-150’ contours for a couple hours, conditions were excellent. Hooked five and kept a 65 and 70cm. Some of the fish were suspended around 90’, the rest on bottom. The bigger fish was a red with a medium anchovy in its belly, the other fish was red in the centre and white near the outside. I caught one that looked identical a few weeks back and it tasted amazing. I can only describe it as buttery, it was one of the best salmon I’ve ever eaten. Overall a wonderful day on the water.
Some people (me included) refer to the fish with Red & white flesh as “marbles”. Not uncommon with September Chinooks at Sandheads.

Hi all. Heading over to Bowen for a few days on a slow boat. Got some out of town family with me so want to show them a good time on the water - best place close to Bowen at this time of year? South coast of Bowen? Red bell buoy? Thank you and Happy New Year all!
