Finally got my act togethor and spent the last couple days fishing out of Cheanuh. Small fish was the operative word. Couple of pinks, some smallish hatchery coho, couple of small springs and one decent (20.5 lb) spring. The 20 pounder came out of the meat hole, hit a 4" Cop Car Coyote being trolled with a 6 ounce slip weight (almost like the old days). Darn fish hit the spoon, spit it, and then the hook impaled it in the side. Or so I figure the sequence.
Thought it had to be upwards of 35 pounds at first from the way it tore off the line and then sounded and sulked on the bottom. Took better than 35 minutes to get into the boat.
A ridiculously large number of shakers. Changed gear and depths numerous times to try and avoid them, but they would hit anything and everything from a pink hoochie to a Coyote everywhere from 25 feet to 140 feet.
Do you think there are an exceptional number of these around this year? I don't remember this many in past years.
