Heading over on Campbell Cruise Lines to fish around Sooke for the weekend. My buddy moores at Cheanuh and we usually fish Trap Shack and west of there.
Looking forward to get into a few fish hopefully along with the other throng of weekend fishers.
Looks like there has been some fish drifting back into the area after a week of slow fishing?
If you see us give a wave. We'll be with Doug Vidal(Wino) in an older but mint, 20 ft white Hourston hard top with a big black Merc hanging off the back. Hopefully we will be grinning and having fun with the silver bulletts.

Out last night for some fun. Managed a 24. Heard that Otter was not too bad last night, and really good the previous 2 nights... Hey abbyfireguy, give me a yell on 68 this weekend - Addicted - Nice to see another brother out there havin fun..... Local 967 Saanich.

Fished possession in afternoon had one in first pass 25lbs, moved to otter after an hour to fish the evening snap and only saw a few decent fish caught, had 3 good smacks but that was it for the night! Luna lets get out this week for a night bite, i have the little boat all loaded up.

Hey spooled! Forget about Luna, his old lady has put her foot down and he has to spend some quality time at home. (Wait! I just heard a whip crack!) ;) Just give me a days notice and I'm in... Nice fish the other night by the way.

Nice looking fish there Roy,clients looked happy also.Glad to see you got to bring one in to.Im going to give it a shot in Renfrew for a few days....Dan

Yes it was a good couple of great days but those fish are quite apperently gone I was just at the right place at the right time for a bit thats all and was lucky to get them had those guys for 3 days you may have noticed there little boat at the end of sunny shores, man what a boat very very nice inside had a bbq with them one night and they were a little slow getting up the next day LOL.

As for fishing today managed to scrape up a couple but worked for them thats for sure kinda got the feeling the whales must have passed by in the early morning hours as chatted to a whale watching buddy and he was heading west looking for them???so maybe they went through before anybody got out there at 4am or earlier?? didnt here much chatter on the radio!!!!!

maybe the night produced something?????

Good luck Wolf

Thats not what i want to hear Roy! We got a late start, fished 4 hours bonked a 22 and lost a real pig down below the Head on the first rod in. Three times to the boat and pop, no fault of the guest got a few good looks at it, guessing it was in the 40-45lb range. Saw one other teener Spring caught. Pinks are a pain on the ol' bait supply.

Hi guys! I been shorecasting round Vic cause I'm outta town working here and only get out on weekends up island.
I see quite a few boats out there trolling with only one onboard.
If anyone needs a good deckhand familiar with working the downriggers and rods n rigging, has beer and gas and subs,...hey.....Lemme know!!!!!!!!I got my rod, reel and gear, jus give me a downrigger to use and you got a partner!!!!
This is my first post as a new/old member...(formerly k.a. riverhunter).
Seen lots of boats landing fish between 12:00and 3:00 today at otter point. And that yacht fishing with downriggers is my dream home!!!!!!
Man that is jus sic!!!!!stroll thru your living room after having a shower and setting up your rods on the back deck.DaNg!

Was it just me, or was Possession the dead sea tonight??? I saw 1 shaker bought in the whole night and I didn't even have a sniff. Waste of my first evening out this year. Sun was bright, so may have missed some action, but sure didn't see the nets out. Any action elsewhere?

Fished otter/tugwell from 5 to 7:30 for nada except shakers. Didn't see that much action.

Decided on Posession tonight as well. Glad I did from what I hear about Otter. Either way it was a nice evening out there I'll say that. Everything looked perfect. Lots of bait!!!! Lots of little springs for me probably had ten on in the few hours I was out. One guy had a 30ish landed when I rolled up at 6:00pm Didn't see anything else until a guy smacked a mid 20's at around 8:00pm.

Probably 40 boats in the area and didn't see any other action. I was solo so between the shakers and the salad I was very busy none the less.

Going to bed.

Hope Thursday is better for you guys.

Sorry to sound ignorant, but what tournament is on this weekend and where will most probably go?

Its the Consultants Invitational...hosted by the civil engineers in town and ran out of Pedder. Several of the guides here are involved and probably about 7 of the members on top of that. The rest are all employees of the engineering firms, City engineers, suppliers, and several skippers that volunteered their boat. Same boundaries as the rest of the derbies, so mostly Sooke area. Looks like 48 boats is the count, so we won't plug up the waters too much.

Thanks Deewar25, I might be heading out that way with a buddy on Saturday morning to catch the morning bite. Good luck with the derby.

I'm in the derby. I don't know if I can pull off the big win like I did in 2007. It's one thing to go up against a bunch of Dilberts, it's another to compete against guides! I'll be in the light green Hourston hard top.
Good luck to all.
