Wolf , no rumour ....
It wasn't quite 50 on the scale (but likely was when it first went in the landing net earlier in the day). The behemoth tipped the derby scale at Pedder Bay late afternoon Saturday weighing 48.9 lbs. Sadly, the proud angler wasn't in the Bite Me Derby
or he would have been $ 8,000 richer. Consolation is the beast tops the Island Outfitters leader right now.
Bite Me Derby had some very respectable fish too over the two days. 106 salmon weighed in on Saturday and 44 weighed in Sunday all over 10 lbs. Top six salmon were:
1) 42.7 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 16 #257 (Keith Martin)
2) 34.9 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 15 #060 (Richard Fast)
3) 33.3 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 15 #386 (Al Zaalberg)
4) 33.3 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 16 #006 (Carol Burkowski)
5) 32.0 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 16 #055 (Frank Granberg)
6) 31.6 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 16 #186 (Steve Wills)
