Fished Saturday and Sunday at muir. 3 fish each day. LONG DAYS! All around the 20 mark but we couldn't break 25lbs either day. Great weather though so I guess I really can't complain much. Sunburn and a sore liver.

Sat morning at the trap there was a decent bite around 7-8ish. One 20#, another one hooked approx. the same size shortly after - long line release :(, then the usual small mixture for the rest of the day. Today no springs for me just the smaller mixture. Saw one 25 and a 23# at the table at Cheanuh.

Wolf , no rumour ....

It wasn't quite 50 on the scale (but likely was when it first went in the landing net earlier in the day). The behemoth tipped the derby scale at Pedder Bay late afternoon Saturday weighing 48.9 lbs. Sadly, the proud angler wasn't in the Bite Me Derby :( or he would have been $ 8,000 richer. Consolation is the beast tops the Island Outfitters leader right now.

Bite Me Derby had some very respectable fish too over the two days. 106 salmon weighed in on Saturday and 44 weighed in Sunday all over 10 lbs. Top six salmon were:

1) 42.7 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 16 #257 (Keith Martin)
2) 34.9 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 15 #060 (Richard Fast)
3) 33.3 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 15 #386 (Al Zaalberg)
4) 33.3 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 16 #006 (Carol Burkowski)
5) 32.0 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 16 #055 (Frank Granberg)
6) 31.6 lbs Chinook Salmon Aug 16 #186 (Steve Wills)

All results available at http://www.biteme.metchosin.com/default.htm (you can see pictures of the fish on their site too)

There are a ton of salmon out there right now but we need a few more tyees in the mix.

There coming ....

Since thursday nite ive been hittin a good one everytime out...ive been very aggressive with the reefs by staying close to bottom when cruisin over them...stayin tight at otter...75 ft off first rock...50 ft from 1st to 3rd...had luck in both spots...possession...all i have to say is donuts ...got a couple hogs on there...lost one to a soft gammy... and the other some locals seen today at 1030...could very well have competed for first in the derby....but anyways good luck out there oldtimers.

Wolf dude, .....was good passing by yah at the docks. If it wasn't for the two right on my tail I would have stopped and yhacked for a few minutes. We'll have to hook up for a couple pops at the dock. Give me a shout.

PS, no hogs for us either that day. A mixed bag of around 30 or so fish. All under 12lbs

Home again from the trailer , evening bite on the last two days around Otter P and up to Shearingham was hot !
Most were in the 22 to 30lb range , average depth about 55 to 65 ft , they were not fussy taking bait , spoons and dark green hootchies , biggest fish came in on herring hook ups , home for High School reunion and then off to Renfrew for 4 days starting on the 23rd.

Cheers

Fished Possesion Mon. morning with 45 other boats, hooked and landed 1 17lb spring early on, 58ft, betsey green head. Did not see a lot of springs there in the am shift. Looked like B/Pearl was having a good day;was working hard off the point, hows that lucky rod, lol. Started to get bothered by pinks and small springs and went up to Otter from noon to 4pm. Hit 4 springs up there from 12lbs to 25lbs. Off the point and third rock were the best for us, 28ft to 58ft, green haze flasher and blue/green chrome head was the winner, only a few pinks. Saw a slow trickle of springs being caught from 2pm on.Strange,lol.

Fished Possesion today from 7am to 1045am, had a chance at 2 and landed a 18lber, the one we lost was about 25lbs. Green haze flasher and blue/green chrome head caught the springs. Saw a about 6 springs caught around 830am. A lot better than Mon.

Wolfy, I could not get that thing to work for me???? I hope it made it's way back to you, sorry we didn't get to cross paths again.
Good luck to all!! Should be some good repots coming tonight. Addicted, Spooled, you on this on? report?

Fished Otter today, just me and the dog from 10ish to around 2:30. Picked up a nice 29 short of third rock at around 10:30 while reeling in a smaller fish on my other rod. Trolling west a bit further had another decent fish on which seemed to swim through every weed around and quickly found an exit. Lots of pinks and some smaller springs filled in the gaps until just before slack had another nice fish in 80 ft of water off the point. High twenties maybe, gave up the hook at the boat. During high slack picked up a 17 at third rock and called it a day. Fun day with great weather and good action and I managed to keep the dog in the boat(until the dock anyhow, I don't think he has very good depth perception:)). 60 and 75 ft seemed to do the trick.

Took out some co-workers tonight from about 4:30-8. Fished Beechy Head.
Caught a 17lb and 12lb spring. Lost another teen at the net. A few pinks and coho.
Nice night out there!
