Hey Guys
First time caller... long time listener.
Does anyone know how the wind has been between the Race and Sooke in the PM during this heat wave? Got regected twice last week due to winds. Taking a long time river trouter out tommorow from the mountains who has never seen salt water... should be fun.
If I'm lookin on Bigwavedave.com for weater for this area, is the closest report Gordons Beach??

Your wisdom is appreciated
Thanks a bunch!

Yeah, gordons beach for the forecast, and you can include race rocks under latest reports for real time and pick between the two. Has been totally flat, but this is last night of that - back to our normal offshore pattern and evening winds and it looks like 20 knots all afternoon. Morning fish you'll be ok, but expect lumpy otherwise. If you have a small boat, you may be restricted to Peddar or Becher Bay.

Anything happen out there tonight boys? Went down to the spit to cool off and have a picnic dinner with the family tonight and there were quite a few boats at Possession. Wishing we were out there:)

I poked around at Otter and Muir tonight. Some really nice wild coho and many undersized springs. But nothing in the way of a keeper. I was actually hoping to get into some pinks, but got none -I tried moving out, but it was a little too lumpy out there for my tiny vessel. Only saw one fish netted, but I wasn't with the pack for long. Hopefully someone found something. I am out of action for a couple of weeks now, so it will probably heat right up!

Where are all the pinks?!! Seems like fishing is slow for this time of year hopefully things pick up!

Fished the Trap tonight lots of pinks [V], good bite started at 7:30 for springs but most were small ( released 3 small springs ). I managed a #14 and saw about a #20 neted .Nice night to be on the water .[8D]

I did the same as steelhead--Otter and then out into the deep for a nice hatch coho and a couple of pinks. Nothing to speak of at Otter for me. Saw a 24 and a 10 come in to SS from the trap--8:30 bite. Steelhead--Do you have a blue aluminum boat?

Nope, I am not the guy in the blue aluminum. I am in the REALLY small boat, 10' inflatable. How far out did you have to go to get the pinks? Three times I headed out and by about 300' it was looking too choppy for me... but it almost always looks to choppy for me. I actually had the best fishing for the coho in about 150' to 200' off the red house on Gordon's beach. Sure was fun, but I need something to eat!

We headed SE from Otter, letting the current take us, out to 400 ft of water which is where the coho, pinks and sockeye:( were. It kills me to shake those nice hefty sockeye.

Smily if you are the boat im thinking it was. Dident your G/F get the 22 pounder? Maybe im wrong. I was out in a brown Double eagle. Brown top. Hit some nice sockey and a few pinks in the trap. and a pack of bait to the little springs.

Not this year, Rick but there were lots of fish on the surface last night--you might do OK.

I run 12's jsut to take it a bit easier on the riggers. And yes ive hit about 6 coho's and 4 pinks on the bucktail; in the prop wash down about 10 feet, u can see the fish darting towards it on a really calm day.

Smiley, wrong guy i guess. sorry, But very nice fish, there was a white newer double eagle with a nice one at the trap at about 8:05 i was heading back from the head ended up between 2 boats with screamers on, was scared i would run them over, the fish were smart and went opposite dirrections from us!

Been a fish "voyeur" for awhile on the site. Since this page is looking like show and tell I would like to post a pic of a great fish from last Sunday. Problem is I can't figure it out.

Is there a cheat sheet out there?

Thanks!
