Fished Otter yesterday evening. When I got there a couple of other boats picked up fish. About 6pm I hit a wild coho and an undersized spring. A little slow, but a beautiful evening just the same.

Anyone with recent success on the night bite?

I was out last night at the trap and the head. A few pinks, coho and shakers but never saw a spring caught.

ya seems really slow for springs still. I took the trout rods out a bit and nailed a ton of coho yesterday - it actually was a blast on the light tackle.

We really need a new push of springs though!!

Early at the trap only small springs, kept one ~10#, then tried for cohos and pinks further out. Lots on the screen around the tidelines but not all of them wanted to bite. Hit maybe 10 coho and 5 or 6 pinks until noon. Only one hatch [V]

Boy is it slow !!!!! got 1 spring yesterday and lost it right at the boat and 1 on today at possesion that we also didnt get and that was it saw 1 other caught lots of pinks and coho though was off of sec. in the 300 to 400 ft range but man deep 100 ft on the rigger.

As for a night bite know of a local guide that 3 nice ones last night but he was the only baot that got them that I heard of.

Dont think you will get out tonight as very weird weather there was a huge swell out there today some 10 ft and bigger about 5 seconds apart something must be brewing???? very strange.

Like poppa said we need a push of springs very very slow for this time of year and no springs!!!!

Tom always paints a pretty accurate account of the local fishing
and you'll see that coho and pinks predominate with a "few" Springs
also caught.
No slam on Outfitter's but they are in the business of selling tackle.

Man, I'm taking my younger cousin out tomorrow morning for a bit. It sounds like its not even worth hitting the first light bite. I'll maybe just fish 7-11 or so and have some fun with the coho. I'll let you guys know if I see anything.

BTW guys, DFO was checking boats on the water on Sun (Pedder) and today (Bedfords). Make sure you got those barbs crimped and watch the RCA's. Apparently they made quite a few guys pay some good money.

Got out to otter yesterday 11-4.The pinks cleaned me out of choves by 2 then threw on a couple of spoons- within 10 minutes got a 25 and lost aother beaut after a good fight 20 minutes later.First whitey of the year.Saw a couple other springs landed during the short bite but other wise seemed pretty slow.

Always like to read your posts Alley cat. lots of info. I appreciate it . I'm interested in your use of 50 # leader. Its pretty skookum. I'm wondering about your rational and whether you think you pay a price for visibility. Is it worth it in your opinion?

Well, some fish moved in. My cousin and I fished Posession and ended up with our limit of 4 springs. First pass, we hooked one on a hootchie at 66' but a ****** seal got it and I lost the flasher and everything. Second pass got a doulbe of 23's - 66 and 77 on a white/green hootchie and a chovie behind the betsy. Then got 2 more both on the chove at 77, 16lbs and the last was 11. A fair few fish caught, one boat had at least two, another was on his own and got his limit, and saw other nets going as well. First real bite I've been apart of this year, and my cousins first springs - she had a blast! Did a good job of playing and netting fish as well. Here is a pic - notice 2 are hatches:

Anyways, out again next likely for the weekend frenzy. Hopefully this wasn't a one day thing.
