Sooke Reports - Spring/Summer 09

Sounds like a few fish were caught before 6am this morning. I arrived at 6:45, nothing for a few hours, seen 2 or 3 caught. Ended up with a 27, 20 & 7 pound springs between 10:30 and noon. Can't fish the night bite right now, hope others are getting out after work and taking advantage of less boats and better action.

Fished Sheringham this morning. 1 bite, 1 fish, 28lbs, 57ft, Chartreuse Flasher with Glow green head. Fish hit hard and took line for every. Played it for awhile, them it got hung up on someone's downrigger. The Gents were awesome. They netted for me. Awesome team work. LOL. Thanks again guys, He was a screamer. Cheers.

Love the teamwork when it happens. For every time you're cursing someone who is asleep at the switch, I find there are many times when everyone cooperates to get a fish in.

Lucky Eagle and I met up with FAH-CUPS and headed out to the Halibut Honey Hole around 7:30. By Eight I had a 20 pounder in the boat. A half hour later we hit a double header, 43 and a 65 Pound Hali’s. What a wild ride, trying to reset the Harpoon in time to nail FAH-CUPS fish just at it hit the top. Quite a scene in the boat after that madness. Cleaned up the carnage and got organized. After pulling the anchor, FAH-CUPS turned the Glasply toward Possession.
Fished for Salmon from 75 to 50 feet and not much feed showing. Decided to troll back toward Beechy. Hooked up with a couple of shakers at 97 feet, green on green. Just passed the trap, I hit a 23 pounder! Headed back to the dock for some clean up, cut up, and headed back to my place for some cold ones.
Great Day on water with good friends. Thanks FAH-CUPS and Lucky Eagle, for a day to remember! I.I.

Nice morning on the water today.
Landed a 23lber on the first pass at about 5:30 this morning.
A bit later hit another screemer. Ended up tangled around my downrigger beside the boat when we were netting it and eventually snapped off. High 20's. Lost 1 more about 1/2 hour later. Another good fish that took out a pile of line and then surfaced and spat the hook.
Nothing after that.

Still a good morning 3 guys on board and each got a good fight out of a fish. The 23 was another whitey. What's with all the white fish this year?

Man, I put in my tiny boat at Gordon's Beach at 4 and turned left when I should have gone right. Fished till my friend got sea sick at 8ish, and pulled the pin empty-handed. Saw a few come in, including a nice one for another guy in a tiny boat. Had one shaker on myself, and it spat the hook. Sure makes me wish I had gone down towards the light tho. And I have no idea how anyone could get sea sick on a night like this!!! Great spot for tiny boat fishing; I will definitely be back.

hey guys,

Probably the only guy without one but... is the betsy flasher the one with the straight silver flash on one side and the other side has a green fading to gold strip running along one of the lengths? and is there different colours?

school is gonna be done tomorrow can't wait to pound the water!

Fished at Church rock to the Bedfords from 6AM - 11AM. We didn't catch anything nor did we see a whole lot of action but I hope everyone their Canada Day on the water.

Betsy comes in a few colors now. I like the betsy gold. It is gold on 1 side and has a prism of I think gold/silver/green on the other.
There is also a betsy silver and a couple of new ones out.

The package has a warning right on the front that these flashers will lose paint right away and are non returnable. They look pretty beat up after a couple of trips but work like a charm.
