I went fishing on Saturday at around Posession. I was fishing anchovies with no luck. I switched to cut plugs using extra large herring that I bought for Hali fishing and switched to a very slow troll and, wham, 3 hits in 45 minutes. We landed a 24 lbs spring and lost 2 others because the people I was fishing with really didn't know what they were doing. One of the ones we lost was a real hog.. damn it! :). What a great fight with no flasher. We only fished until 1pm and called it a day. I didn't see anyone else land a fish the whole day and I also heard that Saturday was a little slow all over? I am thinking that the fish are there but are very picky. I'm heading out again on Canada Day and I will start at Church and work my way up to Possession while I look for the bite. This time, I will brine my extra large herring for durability and sent. Anyone else using cut plugs with success?

We fished Possession on Saturday as well. We had a couple of wild cohos we sent back and that was it. Didn't see a lot of action. We saw a couple of guys mooching that landed one. Maybe that was you stag? Beautiful day but slow fishing for us.

Nope, I wasn't Mooching. I was trolling slow though. I was in a 17' whaler.

With all this big fish talk some pics wouldn't be such a bad idea. Your credibility, even though LC vouched for ya, profisher, with me for one is running thin. Not that you have to prove anything to anyone.
And a report becomes a brag unless you throw in some knowhow. Don't give it all away but keep it real.
I miss Wolf's reports (with Pics!!!)

cheers

JUST FISHEN'

With all due respect guys. Profisher, Gypseas.

Gypseas, that cracked me up! My side is still aching. Profisher, he's got a point.:)

Actually, I've been thinking about it.
I would'nt really post any details unless somebody asked me. Wouldn't really even give it any thought. We all kind of already know the drill don't we?

The way I figure it, I give info freely. Only the more advanced guys will know what to do with it. And because of this probably already know anyways. The others wouldn't really know what to do with the info to make a differance so what can it hurt.

So...........,

where were you fishing ?
What tide?
How deep?
How many pulls out from the release clip?
What speed on the gps? and at what current speed?
What angle were your cables at during that GPS speed?
What colour teaser?
What colour flasher?
What type of roll?
What type of bait?
Trailer hook ?
How long was the bait?
How long was your leader?
What brine preperation did you use?
Trolling paralell to land or perpidicular?
Into the sun or away?

Anything else I may have forgotten? I think this would be a good start to anyone wanting to post some details. [:p]

Posting catch weights on a "Reports" thread isn't much of a report. Better than nothing I guess...it does report there are some fish out there, so worth trying. (when the highliners are getting skunked...that's a helpful report too...but don't see many of those posted! ;))

It would be less of a bragging board if there's a few details given...not to highlights detail maybe, but a casual mention of location, depth, or lure. Throw us desk jockeys and weekend warriors a bone! And no one says is has to be true. What's that old joke, Q: how do you tell when a fisherman is lying?
A: when his lips are moving.

When or if I actually get on the water myself, I'll attempt to return the favour...ha ha [:o)]

Hey Highlites is not like that man!
Simply am a sucker for looking at pics of dead fish especially 30lbrs and up. Little detail on how they died...thats all!
Love the fish **** thinghy
:D:D:D
cheers

something has to keep us going through the work week ;)

JUST FISHEN'

Justin, I knew I forgot something LOL. Guess it was enough to keep me from weighing in something descent.

Gypseas, I'm with you. Love the fish ****. .........Well, **** in general is good!

Those were just the questions that I could think of that would really make a differance out there. No harm in asking a guy. That was my point is all.

:)

Not sure how to post pics on this site. There are lots at (www.fishingbc1.com) Come on guys I gave away the biggest tip I could. Be there when the bite comes on...and it has been very late in the day the last 3 or 4 days. Yesterday it was from 5-8pm, we quit at 7pm. Today was the last of 3 days with the same group and we had to quit by 4pm, so we ended up with a 20lb and missed 2 more for the whole day. (6am till 4pm) We missed the last 2 in the last hour so it was starting to come on again late. This will change soon enough with the tides and the morning bites will become better. It could be tomorrow, so get out of bed they don't bite there.

Juandesooka...your point about not having to be telling the truth is so true. I know most guys will BS especially asked where were you? I would rather not deceive and screw someone's day up by sending them off in the wrong direction. I may not divulge certain info here but if you ask me on the water in person....for example how deep did you get it? you will always get the true depth...limit one question per day! lol

This talk about tides and bite times is important. If a guy (me) has a half day to fish on Wed, should that guy head to Otter early in the AM, or hold off and fish the evening? Of course there are no guarantees, but there is so much knowledge on here, I figure I should try and use it to my advantage. Thanks.

Fished Poseesion Sat. from 6am to 1 pm, had a teenager in the tub by 615am, my first pass of the morning off the point, 70ft. Hooked and landed another teenager off the point arournd 1015am, 66ft. With the teener still sliding around on the deck the other rod went off and my buddy landed a 30lb'er, 80ft. Seemed a bit slower compared to the last few weeks overall. Fished a red hotspot/chrome head and betsey/bloody nose. Know a few guys that were west (Otter, Sherr.)and they didn't do any thing great up there earlier on. One of them did find a whack of coho between the bluffs and otter, 250ft of water, 75 on the rigger.

Fished Possession on Sun from 7am to 1pm, not a bite, ouch!! Too many hot dogs too many beers the night before. Saw a few fish cuaght off the point around 9am.

Fished Possession from 5am to 1pm, hooked our first and only fish at 1230pm, 100ft on the rigger in 170ft off Secretary, buddy played it for 10 mins and lost it, never saw it, seemed solid. Total kelp city the first few hours around poss, Secretary and the harbour mouth. A lot of work to keep the rods in, and then the fog set in from 8am to 1030am, oh ya and the tide was ripping. Fun, fun, fun, lol!
Saw fogggy hit one around 930 off east. poss.. Only saw one other fish caught and that was 10mins after ours. Water and weather really cleared up around 1130ish, very few boats then. Went looking for love in 350ft between the harbour mouth and secretary for a whlie, had one coho explode out of the water chasing my gear, nothing else. Not as many fish around but still some slabs around, saw a 40 on the board at sunnys (Naptime) and a 36 from today or yest, it's a bit blury right now. Good luck to all.

Good report Luna! Was thinking of trailering the boat to Sooke on Wednesday but I think the big early run is just about done.may try off Pender instead and see if I can hit a few out there
