Commander 26 Re Build

Well…. Today my patience has been pushed. I set up the fuel tank and water tank, started to lay the floor down to make sure everything fits, then I notice a tick every time I step on the water tank… wtf. The tank flexes just a bit and touches the baffle inside. The problem is it’s such a tight fit, that with the floor on (no glass)it flexes enough to make a super annoying tick every time I walk on it.
Yes same welder fabricated it as the pod. It has been pressure tested and I filled it up with water for 2 months. I’m trying everything not to call his shop out, especially when I seen a guy on this forum recommending him for minor repairs….
**** ** I need a drink

I know when I've had tanks built they always had slits along where the baffle is and fill welded

I'm doing a bunch of welding right now, bring it by the shop
Just be careful of the shavings and hope they bent the baffle 90 and left a leg at the top. Baffle should have at least 1” of space to allow vapor to move freely.

your floor is going to stiffen considerably when it’s glassed and probably won’t flex enough to cause the “tick” how much space is there now between the tank and stringers if you put a straightedge across?

Did put a straightedge on, there is no noticeable clearance, just enough to have it snug with a piece of cardboard on top, like from production:)
Right now I’m finishing up cutting and laying the floor down on top of the tanks and will jump on it a few times, go from there. I have a feeling I will be going to see Ship happens with a case of beer08568E41-C293-47DF-B17F-0F60ABE73D88.jpeg

So here’s where we are at with the tank.Few things I adjusted to make it fit. At first I had no clearance between the tank and the floor towards the front bulkhead. The boat naturally starts to curve up around that area and the tabbing on the bulkhead was a bit excessive. I do want my tanks as far up as possible and not really interested in bringing them back a few inches. Ended up Grinding out a bit of the excess tabbing from the front bulkhead… that helped a bit. Then I removed the factory cardboard LoL, set up the floor after it was cut and had a few guys anchor it down while I jumped around on it …. No ticking, and that’s without glass. Looks like it’s figured out. Thanks @shiphappens for the offer, but I would rather not drill or cut that tank if I don’t have to. I do have a pod that needs a few pieces weld on if your looking for work ;)

Now that the floor looks good, started to resin the ply and can’t wait to lay it down4411A720-2384-4B37-B1D5-3AAADBFD3584.jpeg29551C1D-24A8-4F5F-8E39-C6661E77E384.jpeg556E9E9B-6CF0-4171-965B-D7D82A3E9D57.jpegD89457A5-4718-44CA-8C09-EDFDAC30B29F.jpegC63A6AB4-5F57-4363-B94E-D75CEBF64364.jpeg9C04D072-A346-4514-9F61-7B2202B08897.jpeg9B682F61-D634-478E-9F16-4B0F7163F367.jpeg

What about a six pack of lucky for the next guy?
I do want to incorporate the thread somehow into the boat. I really wanted the inside of one of my hatches to be engraved with sportfishing bc forum , the thread title and all the names of everyone from this forum that had any input or post/like ( with their permission of course).
