Commander 26 Re Build

If u calling me a ****** bag, I’m used it.
Ever since I got my Brand new duramax and a brand new Thunderjet …. I turned into that ****** bag at the launch that we always hated… it took my a whole 2 days to get over it….
No hard feelings
I have a 1ton duramax and a newer thunderjet so I feel your pain. Well, I did feel your pain, for about 2 days as well. Haha.

This thing seems like the way to go for getting that pod right

Dude, you set the standard with Commander ****. It was not just shaved, you notched her and then took a grinder to her rear!
I'm down with the kinky, but wow!
I am not worthy.
I’m trying to do as much as I can but we all know who the pros are… it ain’t me.
I can’t even give any advice on anything on this forum, I just read stuff and like when I can, from conservation to boat builds to fishing you guys hands down are the best.

Awesome work on the boat so far . I don’t want to tell you what to do but I’ll throw out a couple things that If I was in your shoes I’d change . The passenger seating kind of sucks in the Commander because whoever is sitting at the table is either facing backwards or if they are on the rear seat of the table they face forwards but can’t see because they are so far back from the front window and don’t have height to see over the dash. I’ve looked at my boat and I think if the front closet in between the table and v birth is removed, there would be enough room for someone to sit forwards . It’s fairly common to see seat backs that will swing back and forth so if someone wanted to face forward they could, or they could swing the backrest forward and spin around and sit at the table. Not sure if this makes sense but I think it would be a worthwhile upgrade. If you plan on longer trips in the boat and you are rebuilding the “kitchen” I would see if you could incorporate a fridge and also a pull out freezer. The freezer is very small inside the fridge and a nice pull out freezer would eliminate a cooler and usually a mess of food. I see all kinds of companies are making these little freezers for overlanding camper rigs and boat use . I believe the 30 Commanders have one built in on the flybridge. Last one, I think I heard you say you wanted to paint the boat. My last boat was painted a dark blue and it looked nice but it was a pain in the butt. I found I was always worried about the paint and I didn’t find it anywhere near as tough as plain white gelcoat. After a few years and a few dings the paint may start to look a little rough and if you like things perfect it’ll be tough to keep it that way. I personally wouldn’t go that route but if you do, I’d recommend sticking to white. That’s all I got and feel free to ignore me if you’ve got other plans . Nice work, it’ll be quite the rig when you are done.

You are one of the many people in this community that raincity is referring to, from day one you had time for me and helped me with any question I had, much appreciated, any advice from you as a owner and fellow fisherman is always welcomed. This re build is all up in the air now, that’s the crazy thing I’m not sure how it’s even going to end up! The whole build is a combination of ideas and I’m choosing the best fit for us.
The colour is staying a off white for sure 100 percent. But Ron has some ideas to add something to it, make it like a white metallic, I haven’t discussed it with him yet as we are so busy with all this other stuff, but soon will be exploring choices. He also wants to do a marble gel coat inside the hull, maybe white with matching blue to the visor.
I have been thinking about the seating arrangements, that closet is useless to me personally, but really wanted to extend the v berth and was thinking to use the closet space for that.
Another option is to extend the v berth only on starboard side and get rid of that closet only,
And make proper seating on port. I would have to find a nice back rests that flips… the ones I seen I haven’t like so far compared to the solid commander seats,

The pod needs a 1.5” rake for every foot, and welded properly LoL.
You know I would of met my timeline if it wasn’t for this one guy messing up my pod, everything had a plan from electronics to power to interior.
Oh wait…. Water in the boat

It was a sign to slow the f down. Maybe it was a blessing.

The forward seat on a Commander 30 dinette flips back to allow passengers to face forward. There is a small table too.
The back seat cushion unsnaps, you flip down, and then snap it onto the back of forward seat.

So does the engine height

That forward seat isn't for anyone with back issues that's for sure. I considered getting rid of it and making a giant storage locker there. The REALLY big DREAM was to move the head there like most newer cruisers have.

I can see that with a 30, you still have seating in the back.
Another option for the 26 is to get rid of the bathroom, move the dinette back , totally extend the v berth and put the toilet by the wifes head :)

Wives love nothing more than bacon grease and poop right next to their head

Joking aside,
I would love to extend the v berth on one side only, get rid of the closet in front of the dinette and have forward seating also. This way depending on the set up I will have a dinette that turns into a sleeping berth well over 6 feet long.
Toilet is not going by wife’s head…
