Canucks 2021 Season

in yet another move that defies logic, they have called up Silovs. he’s doing well down there so let’s call him up to get shelled by the Rangers.

Not 100% confirmed but I understand Demko had a setback in practise yesterday so we can now thank Martin and Delia and their careers in the rush to the bottom. Shut Demko down for the season as what’s the point.
The beat goes on, oh I mean down.

Well they really screwed that game up, lol. Petterson is becoming a dominant force. It will be interesting to see how he progresses next year.
Silovs looks like he's going to be a good goalie. It wouldn't shock me if they were to trade Demko and have Silovs become the next #1.

He only made 20 saves LOL.

Agree MRWood. Silovs with a few NHL games under his belt is now showing some confidence that quite possibly suggests that he has a future with the big club. Wasn’t guessing and relying on his athleticism last night as he showed some poise and structure to his game. We will see ( only around 18-20 shots) but as we all know goalies are a fickle group. Here’s hoping that he continues to up his game and put Demko on notice.
As for the win this needs to stop (LOL) and please race to the bottom to get out of this mediocre conundrum. Never felt I would say this.

That's true but he still looked good and he's only 21. He's been leading the Abby Canucks all year. I think he's got a chance to be our next goalie.
Some positive news about the local team, this is promising. I read that he was doing well for the Abbotsford team.

We didnt hang on to the Horvat first rounder for very long ? Anyone know anything about the Detroit Defenese man we are getting?

Mid 20s 2nd most goals I think on the wings if I remember correctly, 4mil cap hit maybe seems like a maybe good outcome but have to see it in real life anything is better then OEL and meyers lol

A RHD that are hard to come by and are expensive to acquire. #3 defensemen with solid numbers who should be a nice fit for Hughes. #2 PP specialist as well. Age 25, 6’0 190 pounds. Points this year 9 goals, 29 assists, +8. $4.5m RFA 2024 season.
So big picture, Horvat and a 2nd for Hronek, Beauvillier, Raty and a 4th 2023 is what it is. I think I would make that trade all day long. Clearly the Canucks are not going to wait 3-4 years for defensemen to develop so hopefully some more stuff is on the horizon. Myers and BB6 for bait maybe?

Why because ?
Detroit is flush with upcoming prospects. Last 6 years 8 firsts,12 seconds and 11 thirds. Yikes. Savvy Yzerman dealing shrewdly being in an enviable position as his #1 prospect Edvinsson 19 year old is Calder material in waiting and RHD Seider was the winner last year.
An extension for Hronek in another year would be extremely expensive so Yzerman has the luxury of making these kind of deals. Canucks not a chance as unlike other bottom feeders we have 2 stars in Hughes and EP40 who will be entering their prime so waiting for prospects to fill the coffers and develop does not fit in the short term. I guess they feel they have no choice but to build the team around them now
Unfortunate but past years of stupidity is taking its toll. Miller over Horvat as an example.

Perhaps; and you make some good points, but this trade is causing a lot of controversy with the talking heads on the various hockey channels.
Many think it was way too expensive and is a retooling move rather than a rebuilding move.

Over the next 2 years they had 3 first round picks and 2 second round picks and now they are down to 2 first round picks and 1 second.
This trade also makes their cap problem worse and it looks like now they will be underwater yet again next year. They should be freeing up cap space to pay for the rebuild, the dam Miller contract and the up-comming Peety contract. Trading, Miller, Meyer, OEL, Besser and Garland could help that.

This is a player that will help them win more games immediately, now that they are meaningless and continue the Canuck's perpetual pattern of winning a lot of games once they are out of the playoffs and screwing up their draft odds yet again, especially in this great draft year which has the most new talent in decades. There is also a rumor that he was very recently injured.
It's done now, so no matter where you stand on it, lets hope this guy is the best scoring defenseman since Bobby Or.

I am still pissed big time from them choosing to keep Miller over Horvat. Horvat has 5 goals since he left the Canucks. How many does Miller have in that time frame? Miller has 20 goals total so far, Horvat has 36 and even Peety only has 28. Horvat has not yet reached his peak and is getting better every year. Horvat is good at all aspects of the game and you won't find him hurting his team by pissing off the officials and getting an Unsportsmanlike Penalty. I wonder what the odds are that they will be able to trade Miller for a 1st and 2nd round draft pick in the next 2 or three days?

Lets also remember that if Demko gets injured again or does not make it back to his former ability, they are going to need a franchise goalie and that could cost them a 1st round pick at some point. So far Demko looks good, so hopefully they don't overplay him again next year and get him re-injured.
