Beauvillier will just fill a roster spot and the Canucks are even weaker in the here-and-now with the loss of Horvat (part of the plan?) but Raty is a legitimate prospect I think. He’s a good-sized centre who dropped out of top 5 in his draft year because of a rough first pro season on a middling team in the Finnish Liiga. He seems to have rebounded nicely since and if the Canucks can develop him properly in Abbotsford, this might shape up to be an ok deal in the long term. And in the meantime, without Horvat’s goals and Demko still out another month, they should start to accelerate downhill into a better drafting position.

I have always been a die hard canuck fan but after torts and the idiot gillis and green I stopped watching ,this year early thought HEY new coaches new team lets see I think I watched a total of 3 games this year many I turned off aftter they "didnt show up"

What management did to Bruce was brutal get rid of a winning % coach for a lower % coach hmmm as Forest gump said "im not a smart man"
I think ill start rooting for the oilers now as at least they have talent...

Trade on the surface looks underwhelming as no RHD in the return. Hoping for a kings ransom but Beauvillier is a 6’2 Center, Raty is their so called top prospect and the 1st is conditional.

The cap relief is huge here. It’s a different deal with the diminishing salary cap these days

I actually like the trade, especially if the pick ends up being a 13th-17th being a great draft year and a top 10 guy could slip down, plus Canucks will drop overall in the standings and should end up with a really good 1st round pick. I think they turned down better offers player wise along with the 1st but those teams (likely NJ dallas and boston) are high up in the standings so the pick would likely be high 20's. Raty looks like a good gamble and the other guy a middle 6 guy with potential to improve. If they waited longer other trades would start happening so the teams willing to trade would drop, probably what happened with Miller last year. Looks like they'll get something for Boeser now as he kicked it up a bit. If Schenn goes at the deadline which I think will happen I hope they bring him back for a coupla years and make him captain till Petey's ready (if he sticks around, lol, signing Kuzmenk may help in swaying him to stay). I think Meyers goes this summer after getting his bonus to a team with lots of cap space. we need 2 solid defensive dmen like Tanev , no more offensive guys please!

I guess he can't wrap his head around 2 defenseman pinching and no forwards covering. We learnt this stuff in pee wee hockey.
No leadership on the team and that included Horvat. The closest one to a leader would be Schenn.
