I can't stomach that being a reasonable price for a 14 year old boat. I do appreciate it having new power, but for 55k I would want a lot better pictures and convincing it was worth taking for sea trial. The manual bilge pump isn’t the self bailing feature the seller means?

I hear you - but comparing to a boat with a 1000hr engine, in a different category, in a different country, is always a bit of a straw-man argument.

I agree, the photo's don't provide enough information to know if its actually a legit boat at $55k, but I always think a bad listing is a gift to the diligent buyer. Most people will just skip past it, and rewards someone that takes the time to check it out in person. If no one else has looked, you are in a much stronger negotiating position.

If the boat checks out and is actually 18ft + 2ft pod/platform extension, has a decent hull profile/seating arrangement, and is actually self-bailing, then you are cross shopping this with Lifetimer's 1800 offshore, Silver Streak Challenger or a Bridgeview. All of those are objectively much, much nice boats - but those are also all priced (new) north of $100k these days, and don't come up that often on the re-sale market. That beat up old Bridgeview from September is maybe the closest comparable; that one didn't have a pod/platform-extension, didn't have a stand-up glass console and was overall in much rougher shape - that one seemed a stretch at $40k (and it had newer power as well).

The photos aren't good enough to know if this is a diamond in the ruff, or a turd on your doorstep. But if you are in the market and reasonably close-by, taking a look can only help inform you.

I could be wrong, but I’m almost positive this is an ex north king lodge ‘unguided’ boat from when they sold off older models and reupped w newer bridge views in maybe 2015-2016? Don’t quote me. Those hulls saw there fair share of hard use over the years up there & this one has been on the fb marketplace awhile.

Edit: says it was manufactured by northern king which seems to confirm my suspicion’s but I think these were manufactured a while before 2010? I want to say somewhere in Rupert built them but I can’t recall

A few builders did the rail like that. I have a 15’ SilverStreak with the same inner rail. It’s actually a nice feature.

I had this same railing on my 14ft Lifetimer. The main advantage is that it allows for easy incorporation of a downrigger mounting plate. The downside is that it's just too low to provide much safety functionality. I much prefer a higher top mounted railing.

Sure is. I love those old Whalers. Not sure if I can afford to push one around. Big and heavy. Probably soggy too. The palm trees in the background is pretty suspect.

Hull is super cool looking! Side door, large dance floor. Nice size and layout. Needs a massive clean and some updated power. Some pretty large bondo patches…
That would be cool to pickup for $30k, put some love into it and be all in for 80k to $100ish. Could be one bad mf’n boat.
At 55k as is no way

30K??? They literally cut a chunk of the side of the hull out and doesn't even look like they filled in the cut out haha.. Its worth the amount of the trailer at best, I wouldn't go out on that even if it was free.

Id be weary of that Almar, same seller as that junky whaler. Both look like they are storm boats from florida and probably salvaged and re floated. Neither have canadian numbers either so I'd be surprised if they were imported properly.
