Boats on Used Victoria and Other Areas

$10k price drop on a

2003 Seasport 2700 pilot

CA$135,000
This and a 24 with a gas engine with low hours are for sale and dropping in price on the south island. I don't know what price drop it would take to move them but a video of them on the water and with window shading removed would be an improvement. Touching up the kicker motor bracket on the 2700 would go a long way as well.

I have two buddies looking for cabin boats in that size range who are both capable of buying and maintaining inboards, but won't even look at them, which is too bad.

I like the idea of 2700 but after a couple days of launching and retrieving a 25 footer and feeling like an 8'6" beam with 5 people on it is too small, I'm good!

Here is the 24. 6k price drop and promoted on Facebook so motivated
I recognize the owners name, from Rupert originally. That boat has been for sale off and on for a long time, at least a year. Make of that what you will.

So I called and the person answered said he was a boat broker and bought the boat two years ago and said it was stored out of the water I asked why in the ad it said will be pulled out for viewing in sept and story changed to it was kept in the water by us but not the previous owner
I asked if tank was pulled or changed and was told no need as it was all good
Was told trailer is excellent and only used two k back and forth to launch and the canvas was garbage and would need new
So I decided to go look as I was told all it needed was maybe a newer motor and was priced accordingly to repower
As I walked around the boat I noticed all the nuts on ubolts were rusted to the point of failure and main hitch beam going into the triangle area of the frame was drooping a bit as I looked at the hardware bolting it together I was surprised it hadn’t fallen apart as the steel bolts were sooo badly rusted the first set of bumps on the hyway would have the boat separating from the hitch beam and trailer and boat would go where it wanted by itself
The hull itself looked good only one scratch through gel coat up high by rub rail on the front left side inch or so long rest looked ok from outside
Through hull fittings are crumbling due to age and oxidation
Looked in battery compartment and battery not bolted down and some wires looked like they were losing the plastic due to age and crumbling
And the black color of the inside of the battery box was indicative of lack of cleaning and maintenance
Missing seals and water inside the hull area was obvious to me as it was sitting outside in the rain with no cover and rain free to run into the boat hull
So I’m sure it would be a good hull for a project boat if a person had unlimited time and lots of extra cash on hand
It needs everything done to be a turn key boat and go offshore and the trailer is scrap !
Wouldn’t make the trip home let alone out to bamfield or elsewhere

Maybe a better deal on a new kingfisher 28 coastal express at 146k usd? https://www.facebook.com/share/19vvxRdzdC/?mibextid=79PoIi
Both Kingfisher and Cutwater are pretty to look at, but that's about it in my experience. The interiors and decks aren't very well thought out and difficult to get full functionality out of. The build quality also leaves a lot to be desired, from the windows, railings, fittings, to the bilge layout, there are a lot of details that have been missed to justify the price point. For the money there are much better options that while not as flashy are much more functional and will stand the test of time, just my opinion anyway.

Ah bummer. It looked pretty good from a far, but sounds like it was far from good.
