Yeah, Ive always been a free trade guy and I'm glad the markets scarred Mr makes things up, into backing down. Last couple of boats I have post been Canadian but I'm also fishing for a boat for a Canadian who makes USD and works down in WA so bounce both CAD and USD boats off him then post here if interesting to the majority. Lots of Americans on our side, and without free trade we are all hopped.

this is one I keep going back to… at just under CAD$200K I feel like this is way better value than many out there - but maybe I’m just trying to convince myself it’s a good deal

I keep looking at this listing, and then look at USDCAD, and crying.

I got a copy of the survey and boat looks super clean. Setting up transport from Homer to Victoria would be a major pain.

I’ve got 2 young kids and it’s time to get a boat with a locking cabin door.

Yeah, super nice boat. Original engines through? Looks like the trailers original, so could be near end of life. I bought a 2007 and have replaced the trailer and electronics. My engine does not have a ton of resale but sure runs nice. I am not sure how they are determining the value of the 18 year old trailer, electronics and engines but I know they will cost 100k to replace. The hull, windlass, canvas, two helms, galley and head are likely worth 100k if they only have 700 hours on them and have been well kept. The wallas stove is likely near end of life as well. Might be worth floating an offer but we can't fix this dam exchange rate.

I personally would not buy someone else’s unfinished project, especially not for $14k. I don’t know much about hull extensions but that looks huge.
 
I definitely would proceed with caution, but if it all checks out and is solid, it's not too bad. They're great old boats. It was $12k when I posted, and it looks like the price has been bumped up, but if you can get it for $8-10k, I think it’s a good buy. The trailer looks decent, and for someone capable of doing the rest of the work themselves and finding a decent used motor, you’d have a great West Coast fishing machine.
