11-3pm shift at waterfall. 8 to the boat, all in the 40-50cm slot. Had two whiskers approach the boat and blasted the orca orchestra - seemed to work!

Found a keeper for the Christmas dinner table. Fished Grace, tons of bait and a flurry of action the first half hour then died right down, kept the little guy busy on the rods. Boxed a 63cm, lost another probably keeper, and a couple unders. Small haul of prawn as a bonus. Merry fish-mas!

Just filleted it, nice little winter marble. I think I’ve only ever got one before in the winter, on the other side, never around here.

My buddy fell over board taking a whiz winter fishing, buddies pulled him out in less than a minute, he was already hypothermic and couldn’t move. Put that life jacket ON!!!! Sorry for the rant, always enjoy your reports!

Different area , but I got a marbled one off Sidney 3-4 weeks ago. 8-9 lb.

My kid fell in without a life jacket, was underwater for 3 seconds which seemed like an eternity, sure glad he didn’t hit his head on the way in, accidents happen, scary ****, never again…

Fair point, I guess I land somewhere between you and Trout-19 on that one lol. We wear em while underway and pullin’ traps, or if they wanna sit on the bow… but if it’s calm when we’re fishing it can be off. Gotta stay alive but also gotta live a little

Im in a similar camp. Back when we had the whaler, we were tubing with the kids. Kid had his life jacket on all the time, my wife and I had the instant inflate ones.

Anyway, the tube got heavy with water so we went to get him and it flipped as we neared the tube. I could hear him yelling so hes in the air pocket but my wife just goes full on into the water and guess what, her life jacket goes off and shes floating like an inverted turtle so now I've got 2 to retrieve....takes me a few secs to pull the kid and hes laughing his head off at his mom...anyway all safe and all on the surface thanks to the pfds.

I know I'm bad for not always wearing one and I'm out alone a fair bit.

I'm the same with everyone on board wearing them while underway or when it is sporty out. When it's calm out and only doing trolling speed, all strong swimmers can go without including kids.
