2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

Last detail before I start a new thread- Not sure if you had to pick but preference of autopilot vs rear station (steering and throttle)? My assumption is that autopilot is great for non-structure or basic structure and not too busy salmon fishing and full rear helm better for busy places (sandheads) and detailed structure?
Much of my fishing is with only one other guy or with wife and kids, both situations I like to have the ability to both run gear and the boat at the same time.
Your assumptions are aligned with how I use mine. Longer straight sections in the wind it's amazing (fishing Nanaimo/French Creek), tight structured areas (Bamfield), I barely ever use it. It's also great for cruising speed for long periods of time going straight (Alberni canal/ Nanaimo to Hornby etc)

Picked up the boat from coal harbour after detailing and couldnt resist the conditions ( + wanted to check top speed with clean bottom 39 kph , not bad) so burned out to sandheads . Absolutely gorgeous out there. 4 other boats. 1 hit, 1 beautiful chrome hatchery ho out deep big spoon at 120. No autopilot needed 😜Also picked up 4 crab so all in all a fantastic late October Tuesday evening!!4pm to dusk

Yesterday, tuesday morning, last kick at the can for us. Box our 6 hatch coho, and released another 6 wild coho. Manage to get 1 chum also. Bite was slow but steady. Water choppy in the morning, turn nice as wind died off and sun came out. Good day to finish off the season.
nice fish u fished sandheads?

proposed closure possibly for sandheads next year theres a meeting tuesday online be sure to tune in if your interested give jason tonelli a email for the details at jtonelli@pacificangler.ca
It’s already closed April to Sept 1. The crappy October weather starts to keep most away anyway. Last couple of years have seen strong rebounds in returns yet proposing more closure time. How does that make any sense?

because dfo wants to implement more skrw zones this time for the sandheads area just like the north arm but bigger and if goes thru there will be no fishing off sandheads sept 1 and on
