Your assumptions are aligned with how I use mine. Longer straight sections in the wind it's amazing (fishing Nanaimo/French Creek), tight structured areas (Bamfield), I barely ever use it. It's also great for cruising speed for long periods of time going straight (Alberni canal/ Nanaimo to Hornby etc)Last detail before I start a new thread- Not sure if you had to pick but preference of autopilot vs rear station (steering and throttle)? My assumption is that autopilot is great for non-structure or basic structure and not too busy salmon fishing and full rear helm better for busy places (sandheads) and detailed structure?
Much of my fishing is with only one other guy or with wife and kids, both situations I like to have the ability to both run gear and the boat at the same time.
