2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

Fished from the end of the SRKW boundary down to T10...water was lumpy, layed down eventually. Fishing was solid from 10:30-1:00, then a lull, and picked up again just before we left at 3:00 pm. Killed two coho, a spring, and released quite a few feeders/unders and lost or missed a few...bait was the ticket and relatively deep 80 plus on the riggers. Tight lines.

After seeing how busy the Vedder was on Holiday Tuesday I figured I'd take my chances on a nice Sunday out on the salt. Made it out around 1 pm and it was slow to start. Trolling an anchovy on one side and various hootchies on the other. We were catching a bunch of small coho and the odd juvi chinook. Lost a few decent tugs. Things didn't really turn on for us until after 4 PM. Then we started getting into the wild coho. A glow with orange hootchie was working best at 55 feet for the coho. Actually our first fish in the boat came after the chovy was hit at 100 feet. Mark popped it off but nothing there. As he's pulling it in on the surface I see a dark shadow of a coho in hot pursuit. He stops reeling and the coho slams the chovy. Then we saw it was a nice hatchery fish, so put it in the net and boated our first fish. Then the anchovy at 100 feet got crushed. My river fishing buddy Mark held on as an 18 pound chinook gave him a really great run. Then it was Dave who struck next at 100 feet on the anchovy with a hatchery coho. Slowly making progress boxing salmon. The sun was nearing the horizon when the hootchie at 57 feet get slammed. This thing was hauling. I thought we must have a giant. After a great fight we boated a super chrome 24 pound chinook. Then that was it... a couple more drive by hits but nothing else stuck. I was hoping for a little better coho action, but I will not complain with the final results. Wind calmed down and the evening was amazing. Hard to complain being out there on a sunny day in October!

Likewise just dropped the lines small chop but plentyoffishable. Only a handful of trailers at the boat launch in Ladner. Looks like they're grinding the markings off the pavement in the parking lot across from launch. Hope we're not loosing that lot. Also saw a big beached dead sturgeon on our left just after leaving dock.

The weather coaxed me out there for one more “one last fish” before winter season…. Hit the north arm for a couple hours, got a nice hatch coho pushin 10lb. Pulled up and fished the cap for an hour, got another smaller hatch. Couple undersized feeder springs in the mix too, otherwise slow, no love on any springs of note. Beauty conditions out there.
