2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

I was at t-10 too. I lost one Spring early then it was ho’s all day. Non-stop. I’m not seeing the Spring action compared to previous years. Just one mans view. Now……this year I’m doing spoons exclusively for the first time. Maybe chovies would improve my Spring catch rate. Who knows. Not spending $15-20 a pack anymore tho. It’s outta control.
Have you tried these yet? They roll pretty tight and I had a fair amount of success with them out at Swiftsure. Way cheaper than bait when you can use them over and over.

Yes, they out fished everything for us on opening day.
I'm pretty sure you could have fished hotdogs on Sept 1st and done well. This is like the West Coast guys bragging about how well their pipe jigs and belt buckles fish so well on their 1000+ fish honey holes 10 miles offshore. That's hardly a test of a lures worth. Not saying they don't work, but let's implement some real science here.

Yes, how silly of me to share a single point of anecdotal data. I am actually caught a bit off guard here, because it was my understanding that such a statement was considered the gold-standard in evidence by the average fisherman. (See: How Deep? Red? A Investigation Into why I got Skunked by SFBC et al. for more on this topic)

Next time before I comment, I will present a thesis with a methodology that includes a statistically significant sample size, a control group, a meta-analysis, and I will have it peer reviewed by a high-impact journal.

I will also hold a number of focus groups that ask salmon from different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds what lures they personally prefer to get a more holistic view of current market trends.

Thank you for your valuable feedback on this matter.

@Alex_c you've got a promising career in corporate boardrooms if you can write and talk like that!

For reports I'll be heading out with another group of kids on Sunday. Hoping to fish the slack-to-flood turn at T10 or Sandheads, weather permitting.

Good luck to the derby participants tomorrow.
I dunno, I have met a lot of corporate boardroom types and my biggest limiting factor is that I am somewhat competent at getting things done efficiently, generally.
