2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

Fished 7:30 to 10:30 this morning, through the slack low and first hour of flood. Let some wild coho and smaller chinooks go. Boxed this white after a solo adventure landing it.

Guy at the gas dock said 26lbs and he’s probably pretty close. At 55’ on the rigger in 300’ out deep.

Tried different tacks in tight and out deep and nothing felt too fishy. Expected to have more action as the flood started but it seemed pretty tame.

I'll just say what we lost right at the boat (after a fairly long fight with what we initially thought was a big spring) with me holding the gaff in my hand already could've been nominated as a real King of Starry flounders lol.

With so many boats out and not a single report of that kind of bycatch, this probably means nothing - just one of those random stories that people get them in this part of Georgia strait once in awhile...

The sablefish caught twice in a row here makes me wonder though...
They're pretty distinctive with alternating black and silver sections along the fins. Should be able to distinguish from a chicken halibut.
