I've done well in 28-7 before, but a few weeks later. I wonder what the rationale is for not opening area 29.

The same Rationale why 28-6 is not open to Sox. Chinook Interceptions..

yes it's been posted for years. It must be a regulation to prevent people from snagging with treble's at the mouth of the river. Not intended for people fishing on boats with downriggers. This is the area I charted for reference. @Pineapple Express @ab1752

I did a little exploratory trip up Indian arm today in search for jumping pinks to cast for. I saw 2 fish. Either they’re not up there in numbers yet, or aren’t in a jumpy mood.

They’re here. I’m in Indian Arm right now and saw 2 pinks caught yesterday. Small, both 4 lbs.

I can only recall the last sockeye opening from 2022. I would imagine it would be a reeducation for some of us on what to use and how to use it.

Yes. That video of the four hi vis flashers that I posted on the Vancouver Salmon page, that was from one of my sockeye trips in 2022.

In 2022 we were catching sockeye two days before the opening 0n chinook gear but by the time the rec guys were allowed to retain them the commercial fleet had had 3/4 days head start. The day before the opening, sign of sockeye had dropped off significantly. I didn’t go out opening day but it was a flop… :-|

Well I was excited to give a whirl on some socks today- it was pinks everywhere- lost a couple fish that fought differently with newbie on board thinking sockeye and then finally be beside the boat. I identified a sockeye and as I grabbed the net, of course the hook popped.-decided to try 28 six for Coleho and or Chinook with zero love was quiet back over to traders mid Harbour and couple doubleheaders of pink again-definitely did have one sockeye at the boat. I almost cried when I lost it lol. Ray Bourque was the magic number 15 to 20 fish to the boat.
