I think they learned that tac from fuel miserly fishing guides that charge by the hour. They were targeting nooks in 28-6 and once they gave up on that weren’t in a hurry to get into pinks.
I wasn’t on the boat but I’m sure they took the proper line and/or picked up and dropped to avoid all the sponge reef. They have fished and prawned the area for decades and are aware of the rules/ regulations.
