2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

Did a few hours in the harbour today. 10-1. Slow. Couple unders.
Same. 10-12 and only had shakers to the boat. Had one huge hit that popped the clip but was gone before I got to it. Back to normal winter fishing at the bell. I saw a couple keepers come over the rails. So the odd fish is still around, of course.

The fleet of us have thinned them out.
Defense has fish as does Grace.

Or, you can spend the same amount of gas and head to Gabriola and fish Thrasher to Whalebone and Entrance and had a blast trying to keep rods in the water. GO WEST young man!

I was out at Passage today and a couple guys in a blue hulled 20ish Hewescraft-like boat buzzed me within 50 feet when there wasn't another boat around for miles. I was very close to shore showing someone a house. They had no business being that close to me. Couple older Caucasian gentlemen who really needed to get a good look at me for some reason. They also happened to drop their prawn traps right in the middle of the Sponge Reef Closure area. I reported it to DFO. Uncalled for behavior all around.

Great you callled it in. Did you happen to get their boat registration? I’ve had that happen to me as well. Only one out there and they almost flip you’re damn boat!!!

No but I got his name and phone number off the float and a good description of the guy. As well as pictures and screenshots of my location. I was so pissed off that he did that, I almost chased him down but decided against it. Wooooooh-saaaaaaah

That was me in my new boat. Wanted to compare boat sizes... And it's 20.5ft thank you very much.

Question for the folks with experience at thrasher rock. Is there a good guide or game plan for fishing this area? My usual game plan in a new spot is to just find the boats, but there’s not a lot of people out there. Any tips or links would be appreciated.

I've only fished there once. Was not successful. I decided based on my ever so scientific gut feeling to head up a little further to Entrance. Was successful up there. But again, I watched the chart plotter and looked for plateaus with drops. Sorry I'm not much help, but I'm looking forward to your report after you go. Always interested in how guys end up getting it done.
Good luck.

Have fished it for 20 years , this is the general tack I follow when fish are on structure ( winter and mid - late summer ) , can fish as shallow as 120’ or as deep as 240’. Careful around the pin at there is some sharp pinnacles if you aren’t paying full attention , they usually hold fish though . Fish the north end up towards flat tops on the flood , and the south end on the ebb . IMG_5775.jpeg
