Thanks for your info. The most recent map similar to the one you posted shows Chinook closed until Aug 31, then 2 fish per day Sept 1st to Dec 31st. See attached.
I was clear in my posts on what I was targeting, chum and pink. As well, the areas that say closed to chinook can still be fished for other species that are open, according to the regulations and restrictions in that same area, and I hope everyone understand this.
One of my contacts has defended fishermen against DFO for decades, here is what he shared with me:
It is common for DFO to open an area for one species while closing it to another. Just keep out of areas "closed to all species". If you catch
and keep a closed species, then you can (and should) be prosecuted, but "no problem if released".
This is what gets missed with the contradiction between the "Species Regulations" and the "Restrictions".
If someone wanted to ask me privately or possibly warn me, a private message could have been sent, especially when we know each other, but the attempted keyboard shaming method was used instead. That's not how fellas stick together, and it pi**ed me off.
