Built like a Sockeye.Next year's fish are already around... Caught this one September 1st between the Bell and first Mile Marker. Not what I was expecting that day, but no complaints.

That thing looks like it spawned, came back down the river, and said f it, round 2Trolled SH this am 7-10. A few hits, missed a couple, released a couple undersized. A few tangles with stacked lines and dummy flashers so simplified the gear after that. One keeper sockeye 60ft in 400 fow using sockeye gear. A bit choppy SE wind.
Hardly any boats out, had the place to myself for a while; only a couple of us refusing to admit it’s over!

Do the male sockeye ever get that hooked nose before they hit the fresh water? It's like a papermache Sox about now.

. Not gonna win any beauty contests that’s for sure. Most of the meat looks ok. An earlier opening would have been nice. That thing looks like it spawned, came back down the river, and said f it, round 2

There is a sub area sliver of area 29-1 in front of chaster creek that allows retention of wild coho. Very very shallow and tough to fish from a boat. IMO it’s about access for shore fisherpeopleAt any point this fall is one able to keep wild coho? How about at mouth of the Cap? Thanks
