My wife and I are coming up to fish Ucluelet in a couple of weeks, never fished there before, any advice? Best place to get maps so I know where I'm going? Thanks!

You can get a chart from Pioneer Boatworks in Ukee. They have an original map with all the local names of each fishing hole. You can copy those names onto your chart.

Trust me if your lookin for high end info, from one of the top guides in Ukee, you best be packen a large bottle of appleton's. The larger the better, the info given will be invaluable from a having a mediocre trip to a blast for your crew. From day's gone past, I too had the offer via this form from Nogg, and believe me for the last ten years the info's bang on. My Kids and I have fished aboard our own boat and chartered with Nogg ( Not Mr. Nogg as you will learn) his skill is IMHO second to none. His offer is invaluable, few step up to the plate as he. We developed a long lasting friendship via this form from a simple reply , such as you have made.

LOL! In days past my Friend, in days past! The Aging Body no longer tolerates that stuff in any volume (Heavy Sigh) so I've have had to cut right back on the intake and Never on "Working Days or Nights" any more.

There are many in Ukee who have a much better claim to the title "top guides" than I Buddy! Appreciate the back-pat, but I am simply one of The Ladz who is happy to be Living The Dream as it were! And as such, I am generally rather pleased to help those out that I can to get into some of the FUN!!

Appreciate your fine comments, and sincerely appreciate the Friendship we have built over the years! Fishing does have a way of bringing some damn Fine Folks together! ;)

Looking Forward to our next!!:D

Cheers,

Leaving in a while to catch the first ferry. Tenting up top at Island West. Give a wave if you see a guy in tiller whaler with a Merc and a Honda kicker. Probably fish Tues-Sat.

Just returned Sunday from a week in Ukee. Four of us on my boat had no trouble getting easy limits on springs, coho, and hali. Weather was great all week. Monday there were a ton of spings in close between South Bank and SW Corner, not sure if that place has a name I guess it is part of south bank. Lots of imiture chinook but some nice mid 20's as well, quick fishing, but the fish moved off and were not there the rest of the week. I heard Starfish was good Wednesday so tried Hyson and starfish Thursday and it was slow, cool lightning storm inland though, neat to watch from offshore. Best most consistant fishing we found was out on Big Bank and it was incredible for us all week lots of 20's. Had to work for Hali's but the chickens were there. Biggest Tyee I saw was a 32 and several close to that late in the week, I believe that fish came from the Rat's Nose although we did not feel the need to go out there. Pretty much used a a Gibbs moon jelly flasher, clear blade, red stripe, 36" leader, and a AO12R hoochie the entire time, seemed to be the ticket for us. We caught fish from 60' to right down on the bottom with 90 and 120 being our best. Trolled our Hali's with a glow flasher, 40" leader, white turd and a piece of salmon belly. Found our coho right in behind Chrow island, they were taking 3.5 green and chrome and white and chrome spoons 6' behind the basic green hot shot or a short bus flasher at 25' on the downrigger.
Had a wolf in our camp one morning, right at Ukee campground. later we saw some pictures in the paper about Ukee's Lone Wolf running around town, pretty neat.
Thanks for all the great info everyone, looking forward to next year allready.

Fished with the Tofino boys up at Portland point this weekend. All the usual players were there Chinook in the mid twenty's, coho (hatch and wild) and pinks. Didn't touch a halibut but the springs were stuffed full of 3-4" herring.

Heading to Ukee tonight, will dump the boat in the morning any recent updates? Will be at Island West staying on the boat "SURF DANCER" stop by if your around. There till Wedesday.

Fished Tues, Wed, Thurs. Fished way out there the first 2 days, and at Turtle head then Chrow on Thursday. My biggest fish were closer in, but of course the action is faster at Big Bank. Caught fish on cuttlfeish hootchies, plugs, and spoons. My biggest was a 25 on a big chrome wonder spoon behind an 8 inch flasher which wouldn't rotate but just sway with the big spoon dragging on it. Trolled up 2 chickens and a huge ling which barfed up 2 big pieces of fresh octopus. Got some cohoes at Chrow, and released a bunch outside. Rotator cuffs are good now after hand cranking 150-250 for 3 days. Tangled my balls in the fog in the middle of nowhere when a dozen dolpins/porpoises (white-sides/Dall"s?) decided to circle and dive around the boat as I drifted and got sorted out. The wolf came within about 30 feet of me at Island West as I was taking a leak outside my tent in the thin light at 4:50 am, he laughed quietly and left. I left Thursday night as I heard it was going to blow. Did it?
