Our family fishing vacation is nearly here.
On Monday we'll be leaving at the crack of dawn from Victoria to head to Ucluelet for 4 days of fishing. Looking forward to the trip, hopefully I survive the estrogen overload (wife, sister and 2 daughters).
If you see us in our Silver Streak, make sure you wave!

Good luck out there, have fun, soak it all in and most of all be safe.

And we expect a full report with pictures when you are done.

Well we made it through a drama free trip up.
Left Victoria at 5:15am, stopped 4 times for pee and food breaks, got into Ukee at 9:50 only to find out the tide was too low to launch any where . spent the next 2.5hrs site seeing around town until there was enough water to launch.
Finally got rods in the water around 1:30 and fished out front around Begg Island. Caught a couple 8lb chinook, and lost 2, off the water at 4pm to check in and get food.
Hopefully a better fishing day tomorrow.

radar is a must on the west coast. Learned that the first year at rats nose really quickly. Blue skies one min then cant see 20 feet infront of you the next. Its a scary feeling trolling among 20 boat then not able to see 1 of them anymore. Lucky it cleared up before our run back in. Next year radar was on the boat. Its an easy sell when the women are in the boat when that happens lol.

Foggy and flat 1st thing. Then the sun started peeking through, and after that some wind.
Steady action from 6am-noon, lots of 5-8lb fish with the odd 10lb-low teen. Glow white squirt is out fishing everything by a large margin.
Fished Beg Isl, Chrow Island and Alley Rock.

Similar results for us today. Steady action of 7-10lb springs and wild coho. One teenager for us, just like yesterday. Springs had 6 inch squid in them today. Alley rock to Great Bear was the best action for us. We have 1 more morning fish tomorrow and then driving home.

Well we're back home after a whirlwind 4 days.
Only fished 3 hrs this morning as my oldest daughter was very seasick. Alley rock produced a 10 and a 13lb Chin and several coho.
Herring Aid Wee Gee spoon was the better combo today.
Already looking forward to next years trip (and not looking forward to playing bumper boats in Sooke this summero_O)
If you've never fished Ucluelet before but want to, I totally recommend giving it a try. All the spots we fished were easy to learn and within 10 minutes of the harbor.

Glad your trip went well for you guys and you were able to put some fish in the boat. Looks like an awesome little family trip and there’s nothing better than that.

Thanks for taking us along and sharing it with us, awesome reports, I enjoyed them.
