Mrs Sly brought out a small container of frozen side stripe shrimp last night. Bonus! I thought we'd eaten the last of the summer's crustaceans back at Christmas. This is even better than putting on a jacket you haven't worn in a while and finding $20 in the pocket!

A freestyle "what we got in the fridge" version of linguine con gambaretti. Onion, shallot, sun dried tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, asparagus, garlic butter, homemade prawn stock and a splash of vino blanco. Shrimp in at the last moment to avoid overlooking. Fast and easy but so good.

the junkies are no problem, it's all the effin hipster joints ya gotta wade thru to find anything chinese down there now, they sure let that bs get outta hand, it used to be one of the best chinatowns in north america, it really pisses me off that they let this happen.

Did the 200 feet diet tonight. Chicken that started as eggs and never left the property, butternut squash gravy with backyard basil, parsley, garlic, rosemary. Spaghetti squash. Beets, and a few asparagus that popped up in the sunshine today.

Finally got around to trying out the Christmas present paella pan.
First effort was a B+. Just chicken and a few Argy shrimps for protein. I'll see if I can run over a rabbit once the mountain lakes open.

But our local farm doesn't have any on hand, and the airport road which is loaded with cottontails has now been triple gated...
Sigh...

Steamers with the wife, bringing back midnight clamming memories from Xmas in Nanaimo.

Latched onto a few Dungeness Crabs the other day.
Decided to introduce our pup to dinner.

Smart Gal that one, used extreme caution to get a sniff - stretching her neck as far as she absolutely could then backing right off.

Into the Steam Bath.

Then served up under candlelight with Basmati, Usual butter/garlic dipping sauce and a good Caesar Salad.
