What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

Finally finished the annual haul out this afternoon. New zincs, drive gear fluid, full tune top to bottom on the yamaha and a good scrub below the waterline. The main I already serviced in the shed. Also pulled the swim grid and rebedded all the bolts and brackets with marine butyl and 291, it wasn't leaking but that butyl makes am awesome gasket. Just torque it down over time and you're good to go but this took me a long time to clean up the last 291 mess.

Super fun, the upper gear fluid bolt extracted no problem then surprise it wouldn't bottom out. I'm guessing the last guy used a bit too much torque and it needed a helicoil. So that was fun and that leg was brand new in 2016 and has only had 3 fluid changes. Anyway she's all good to go, will haul up again in July for bottom and drive paint.

Man I can't wait until this thing has a pod. Haha

A gasket I was waiting for came in so I was able to continue re-assembling my spare 200 Yami powerhead. Got the reed valves, intake, carbs, starter and tilt solonoids, oil resovoir, starter and air box back on.

Looks great. How did you go about templating the boat? Rough cost if you want to share?
You can email Ultra deck and have them send out the the templating material along with the instructions. You will need to know roughly how many square feet of material. It was fairly easy to do with a bit of patience. I am inline to have my template put into a digital version and see what it’s going to cost me.

You can also get them to template the boat at multiple different locations. The website has a list of places that do the templating.

Took the old possibly original forward bilge pump out of my 1999 228 Seafarer as the float switch wires were rotten and replaced it with a new electronic pump the same size. Just need to solder and shrink wrap the wires tonight and should be good to go.

Spending the day doing some of my annual spring polish and wax to the boat. It never got this last spring as Covid put the season in doubt until later on in 2020. So 2 years worth of oxidation to remove. I'm trying a new wax this year...the Meguiars put a really good shine on the Mustang a few weeks ago so thought I would use it up on the boat and see if it lasts as good as the Star Brite...which is also a great wax. Many hours still to go but always worth it when done and you are looking at a new looking boat again.

This doesn’t count as boat stuff, but I stopped by Trotac, got the reels freshly spooled, all new clips and swivels, tied some fresh leaders, sharpened some hooks etc etc... AAAND picked up a much needed AP Sandlance.
