What Did You Do To Your Boat This Week?

I bit the bullet and did something I've been very curious to do for a few years now. I took a 1/4 drill bit and drilled through my hull near the stern, just outside each of the inner stringers to see what if any water dripped out. I am the 3rd owner of my '96 Double Eagle, and there's been a few different bits of gear screwed into the fiberglass deck, and have always wondered if it's dry under there. Very happy that no water came out! Sealed them back over with 5200. Now I can sleep at night :)
Imo should be filled with epoxy...

Today after work I took the outdrive off and removed the ujoint bellows, shift cable bellows and the exhaust bellows and cleaned up the mounting areas. Tomorrow I’ve got a day off so will install the new bellows. They old ones all looked good but I wanted to see inside the ujoint boot so thought for peace of mind I better do it. Inside was great. The guy I bought the boat off said the ujoints and gimbal bearing were replaced and they sure look like it. I’ll also grease the ujoints while I’ve still got it apart

Ya I wondered about that. I had a tube of 5200 handy tho. Think it will be good enough?
5200 is more than good enough. It's great! Adequately sealing anything but a horizontal hole with epoxy is tough to do.

It will break down over time, perhaps not as fast out of the uv environment but chemicals etc. can also shorten its life. Better to go oversize on the hole and fill it properly, or even better have a permanent spot for water to drain out.

Got out this morning. She's a 23' Cope design. Twin Merc 115. Economy and speed turned out better than I had hoped for. Cruise speed is around 30mph at 10gph. Top speed 47mph. Planes on one engine. Autopilot only, on deck, no rear helm.

I can't decide what to for non skid on the deck.

Beauty. My friend, the previous owner of the Lifetimer that's for sale struggled to find a long lasting non skid. Pros applied it each time. It looks terrible when it's half worn off. I'd do heavy mats and hose em off. Of course at 47mph they might catch a swirling gust and fly out.
