Ain't it always the way. Next few days look to have windy afternoons...will be an early call I reckon. But from sounds of things, best bite has been in am anyway. I'm stoked...let's just hope the run continues through the weekend -- and not typical weekend warrior refrain "should have been here yesterday / all week, it was going off!".

Out with me myself and I today. Decided to fish the trap. Hit a ten pounder spit him off. Shortly therafter starboard pops off then right away port rod goes off. Grabbed the starboard rod feels reel good and try and keep tension on the port rod when able. Get number one fish to boat grab the net wow its over thirty for sure then two f-ing seals ambush my smilly right from under my boat. Bam broke off smilly manage to land rod number two a 15iber banged him on the head. Re set gear hour or so later hit a 23 iber called it a day. Watch out for seals lurking under the boat as I did not see a seal untill ready to net. Cheers FC

Was out fishing from beachy head to the trap shack last Sunday. Sorry it took me so long to post. I never caught one but my 2 good friends did. Cam's (on left) was 29.9 lbs and Waynes was 25 lbs. I followed them around for most of the time but never got one.... maybe next time out will be my turn.

just got back from beachy head. got a 20lb spring and we lost one. it was a long day but worth it for the fight. silver hoochie at 90ft.

Did a little pre derby homework today. On the water by 6:00am done by 7:30am. Four fish up to 32+lbs. Just what I had hoped for. Now to see if they cooperate this weekend

went for an evening fish with Tips last night...got to see an awesome whale show....quite a few pods came thru Chruch last night...needless to say NO FISH

I might not have posted this in time but was wondering if anyone was going to out for a night bite tonight in Sooke? The weather says its going to be windy but I don't want to just give up and not go. Maybe a bit windy till you get past the Head then it just might calm down a bit near the Trap at least thats what it does sometimes. Or do you think its just too windy to go out tonight. My Boat's not too big but its not small either. 17 foot Arima. I was going to launch from Cheanuh, if nothing else I can maybe put a crab trap down or two and try fishing close to Frazer Island or do you think that would be a waste of time? Any input would be appreciatated. Steve.

Sea Ranger: I was up stupidly early two nights ago with a sick dog...was surprised to see horizon getting light around 3:15am, quite bright out by 4 am. The day is long...maybe time for an early one before the family is even up?
