Seasport skipper 19 podding project

Was just at the fiberglass shop and they figured it would be done towards the end of next week. We will see.
Still time to start a go fund me for you then. LOL

Goes to pod shop next then power?
When do you think you will be on the water?

Fun thread to follow. Thanks.

I think I need a couple go fund me pages lol. You’re correct, fiberglass then pod then power. I think the pod should be relatively quick. The power shouldn’t take too long either. Should be ready for spring.

Starting to gel coat and fair the deck. Added the short drain channels from the side hatches. Back end getting smoothed out.
Looks good. I’d like to do something like this for my back deck. My current drainage situation (or lack of) is huge pain.

Not much happening on the glass front. Been sickness and snow keeping some of the workers away from the job.
On a positive note, I did manage to sell the inboard motor today, hurray. Glad to see that find a new home. Last thing left to sell is the doghouse.

Great thread and nice job on the build so far. You’ll love the motor, I have 300 hours on my Merc 250 now and love it, no issues. Should be great power for that rig. I’m about 11 gal/hr at 28-30mph cruise (4200 RPM sweet spot) so I agree with a few pages back when guys said 8-9 gal/hr for you.

Curious why you went with 30” shaft. Did your pod design suggest you couldn’t do a 25”?

It was suggested by a number of people that if you go with a hull extension pod then you’re better going with the 30” shaft. Main reason is that it keeps the power head higher out of the water.

Sort of related to the project as I need my truck to tow the finished product. Did the cab mounts on my 08 f350 pickup. Had been getting a rough clunk whenever I went over any kind of bump. Tough job but finally got it finished yesterday. As you can see they were shot for the most part. Got new ones off Amazon for a couple hundred bucks.

That is crazy. I know what a difference it makes on a related subject, I changed all the body mounts on my 69 Camaro back in the hot rod days. Previous to this, I had to beat the cross member in for the transmission with a mallet, but once I changed all the body mounts out, it would slide in on its own. The car rode so much better too.

I gotta do my truck too. I splurged on the S&B silicone ones.

Boat’s looking awesome!

If you need any tips on getting them off let me know. I found that once you have the bolts off, lift the cab a bit on the side you’re working on and then cut the cab mount portion above the frame with a reciprocating saw, steel blade.

Oh I have old aluminum body lift pucks on there. Guaranteed they are welded to the bolts from corrosion and everything will need to get cut out lol.

I think the kit I got also has a press tool for removing the old ones

What are you guys thoughts on Bennett Electric tabs, 12x12 for my boat. The tabs that came off it were 14x11. Is 12x12 plenty large enough?

Started work again after delays from snow and illness.
Shiny backend. May make the rest of the hull looking a little dull 😜.
