Double Eagle 185 Build

Just working on bulkheads after 2x layers of tabbing on stringers. Lots of unrewarding work… doesn’t look any different at the end of each day! Learning lots… mostly small batches of resin/ glass is best. Took the day off to have a look at nauseatingly expensive power options at the boat show…. On a train home now with my tail tucked, bulkhead glassing later this aft.
Now your probably even more confused haha. it’s expensive but a good investment if there is such a thing. The warranty is nice to have..

Close to wrapping things up under the floor… any thoughts on weep holes between stringers - into bilge? Leaning towards not doing them. I know if I was to do them I would fill the holes w/ resin and re-drill. Floor will be getting 2 part 2lb pour in foam. Saddle tanks so a stand-up floor between seats, and a fish locker where inboard was. Floor will be tabbed to hull.

Do you have a step down or all flat floor? I have the step down and have drains thru bulkheads. No weep hole on stringers. Floor is sealed so no water getting between stringers unless I poke a hole in hull

Ya it’s got the same step down as yours. Was thinking the weep holes in bulkheads, and leaving the foam out of bilge under floor/ fish well…. And put small drain holes in drop down floor area. The fish well will get a drain that goes into rear bilge. Basically be open under length of floor down the middle… if that makes sense.

Definetly drains from cockpit thru bulk heads. I made mine about 1 1/2 diameter then filled and drilled out to 1”. I would make them longer. Atleast 2.5” by 1 “. Amazing how slow mine drains at 1” diameter. Cleaning boat at marina is a pain really slow drain

Nice to do something other than fibreglass. Impressed with the DPI hatch… low profile/stainless hinge/ a decent shade of grey/looks like it will support some weight/ has a decent gasket. Cut some bulkhead holes I’ll set in thickened resin after all gets a flood coat, made up a frame for the fish hold ( bit too big a span for my liking.), and got the centre board cut and floor figured…. Good day 👍

Finally got the pod bolted on for good… 5 coats interprotect on undersides, will scuff/ coat rest now that it’s hung. Interior been a grind ( literally)… floors going in shortly. Been gathering bits and materials… pressing on 😬

Is that birch ply on the floor?
Not sure actually… was sold as 3/4” Good 1side. ( only needed 2 sheets)I went heavy on the thickness so I could bridge the gap where the hatches are without adding structure under. Glassed both sides… it’s solid.
