Commander 26 Re Build

Buy that hull on Craigslist for $1 and slap it on it and sell it. Guy has it listed for $5000 and probably costing him $500 a month. Have you tried island welders? My buddy just got a nice arch done, I believe it was cheap.
I’m not sure if that commander is salvageable

My pod for a 26 Hourston was 3700. I can't see your commander be much more than that
That’s a great price.
I have a hard time breaking that down now a days. Even at 3 days labour, 24 hours at 100 bucks, doesn’t leave much room for materials.

I would get rid of it and start over.

This is probably the most important thing of your entire project. I would also triple check the pod is done by someone who has done these pods on these boats. You need someone who has an experience with that boat.

Having gone through this it isn't as simple as hanging outboard off the back. If you get it wrong with flotation your going to be screaming.

The problem with that pod is not just the pin holes. If there’s pinholes and cracks, I guarantee that it’s not fused properly. Youre absolutely bat$hit crazy If you’re even thinking of hanging $80k+ in motors off of that.

Now that we are back to the pod dilemma. My opinion is just get a new pod made for your boat. With the amount of money your spending what's a few more $$$ to have it done right.
Is that the boat I think it is?

I know there is the guy in sooke that builds great brackets. Expensive ferry ride though. With covid everything has gone up. Have you tried Armstrong in the states for a quote?
Lordship, Adrenalin and I’m sure ship happens ;) are ready to rub themselves all over my boat as soon as the helm is in. It’s just gonna be lil more than I would like to pay.
I filled the pod up with water as a joke and posted it for you guys…. I like jokes too…
I do need to repair anyways it if I’m going to sell it, why not fill up the couple cracks and pin holes

Been waiting all week for today, and I’m satisfied…. Kinda
Spent half the day with a measuring tape fighting a 16th, in the end I won, but almost got beat by a 32nd. Didn’t realize how much the roof dropped and affected the diameter of the opening for the door. Propped up both sides evenly and slipped the bottom ply in along with some mat. The full weight of the cabin is distributed nicely along the floor and no ply is touching the hull. Secured it in place with some corebond and ready to glass. Slipped in a couple 2” pipes for wiring, and starting to bring in pieces for the v berth.

Why can't the floor touch the hull? Just curious.
Trying to avoid ply tight against the hull. I guess Ron has seen outlines on the outside of the hull after repairs too many times and wants to avoid that. This way it sits in naturally for a lack of a better word and the corebond fills in any voids without any pressure on the hull

Here’s a few pics preparing the v berth and dinette. Added a pic of the closet that I want to get rid of. There are 3 major changes I would like to make. First is to have a forward facing seat. Second to extend the v berth. And last possibly raise the dinette 2.5” ( level with the v berth). 704AF8BE-9A76-4286-93A2-EB2957C39BD8.jpegF448593C-D4F7-4479-A532-FD26DCE6FE15.jpegDE24145B-4186-4052-9ACB-D655CE1A7656.jpeg655F154D-815F-459F-B9A7-49958E51402B.jpeg
