2025 OFFISHALL Vancouver- Howe Sound-Sechelt Fishing Reports Thread

Fished Thrasher/Flat Tops the last couple days, spent the night at Page’. Still lots of Pinks, Coho and even the odd Sockeye. Finally found my 2 Springs deep at 180’-190’ when I was fed up with feeding the Pinks my anchovies. One white, 1 marble on chovie and Bon Chovie spoon. Got 1 of my lings, lost a sea monster as well.

Guessing the name of the game Monday will be trying to sort thru the pinks to hook Chinooks. I heard from one experienced fisherman that one tactic is to go a bit faster ... anyone tried this before?

Fished west van this am- was killing it on the soul/ flounder but nothing good- was dead during mid rise, moved way out west off north arm and got busy- like 10-12 pinks- 1 unclipped coho and 4 bycatch released boatside then went to cowan and released 1 sockeye and some shakers- slow so moved around the corner from Atkinson and landed a nice hatch coho- couple unders again slowish- all in all was a great day kept a few big humps snd a nice ho for the bbq- Ray Bourque and Nugent Hopkins were magic today! All hootch

I strongly recommend buying and reading - The Science of Salmon Fishing by Bill Haymond.
It’s full of information for a newbie and veteran fisher.

If fishing herring or anchovies, it’s all about the roll of the bait. If you go too fast, you’ll wreck that roll and bait.
Excellent Book. Bill is a great guy, tons of experience, and local here in Surrey.

Used to be 88A for most of the recreational fishers, but really not much chatter on the VHF any more.
Once upon a time yes, social media took over and recognizing guide boats is easy.

Information is shamelessly shared with everyone.

Good luck to all- Vancouver Summer Chinook Season opens now!

Yeah it’s a different world now, Dave. I don’t even turn my radio on now.

I was out at the mouth 2 days ago and hooked into 6 Springs, 6 Pinks, a dogfish, and a Coho in 4 hrs trolling a Pink Hoochie with a UV green flasher pretty fast. I was at 100' on the DR counter with 12lb balls and my downriggger line was back a little more than 45 degrees doing 3+mph. Took 5 mins to hook into the 1st and it was pretty much nonstop action..a couple 30lb springs were landed and released
