Went out to Constance today for something different. Got hits right off the bat with shakers of coho and chinooks with the odd 45cm in the mix. Nothing to keep for us. There were about 6 boats out there I think they would’ve been doing the same as us. Currents picked up so came back and dropped at Brochie trolled to Sax. Marked some nice fish but nothing biting. Pulled the plug at 2pm. Couple keeper crabs an a few unders only 1 female this time. Nice calm day with only a few mins of drizzles.

Had kid sitting duty with my son and his friends sunday. Kids asked to go to the boat so we went out for a quick 1 hour troll off Saxe Point to Brotchie. Saw 2 other boats out there, talked to them and no one caught any keepers. A few shakers, missed bites (maybe shakers). The big run of coho never arrived here like it did last year.

Nice sunny day and kids had a good time playing on the boat. A few keeper crab to end a very short trip which went to thanksgiving dinner at their house.

Crab was cut up into leg sections, put in a cast iron pan, and quickly cooked in a out door pizza oven at 700degrees. Brushed with butter and spices again when done.

Happy thanksgiving!

Did the same from Saxe to Brotchie. Nothing for myself. Did see a couple of coho's taken. I burned over to Albert Head area and trolled back along the ~100' contour. Lots of bird and bait there but not a bite. Crabbing was OK. Got 6 'legals' but through most back. either too soft or missing parts.

Beautiful calm after the storm this morning off Oak Bay. Did have to move a few logs but fortunately nothing to big. Put an hour in at the gap then went over to the flats. Pretty much had the place to myself. Lots of bait, birds and arches on the sonar. I only ended up with 4 small springs, sub 5 lbs, released to fatten up. Did lose one that was a little bigger plus had a couple more missed strikes.

Tried a few different spoons but the old reliable Skinny G herring aide did the best.

agree that herring aide works well.

Went out this morning and it was real quiet until around noon. Ended up with a large Chum that put up a great fight and was released. A wild Coho and a winter Spring. Amazing day out there and pretty cool to catch three different species. All were caught on anchovy.

Got out Thursday aft 2-5pm with no bites while the crab trap soaked. Fished breakwater to Sax pt in close 85ft and out deeper 150 ft. Crab trap had 2 big hard males and a few just unders and a couple females.

Zingy you report gives me hope. Were you outdeeper?

I picked up the Coho and Chum off Brotchie in about 200 feet of water. The Chum hit at 85 and the Coho at 60. The Spring was in 120 feet with the rigger at 100, between Green Can and Saxe point.

Took a chance and caught a break in the weather off Oak Bay. Trolled the flats with one other boat that was jigging, whom had got a fish. Lots of floating kelp to avoid. Slow at first but around noon boated one 68cm. Hooked another one while reeling in about the same size. Released. Moved over to the Gap and gave it a lap. While reeling in to swap spoons got a violent strike close to the boat. Great fight and kept a 78cm chinook. Skinny G "Herring aide" and "No Bananas". Both fish stuffed with small sandlance. Then the rain came.IMG_20241027_144548300_HDR.jpg
